New York’s Jewish Museum Hires Kelly Taxter as Its New Assistant Curator

2013-11-18 08:55:21 未知

On Thursday New York’s Jewish Museum announced that it had hired Kelly Taxter — the co-founder of Taxter & Spengemann Gallery (2003-11) and for the past year a curatorial consultant at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut — to be the institution’s new assistant curator, a job she begins immediately.

“I am very happy to welcome Kelly Taxter to the staff of the Jewish Museum,” deputy director Jens Hoffmann said in a statement. “Her experience working directly with artists as the founder of an art gallery and her extensive curatorial expertise support our plans for future contemporary art programming.” Taxter will work closely with Hoffmann on the institution’s increasingly dynamic contemporary art program.

Most recently Taxter, who received her MA from Bard’s Center for Curatorial Studies, has curated a series of exhibitions at the Riverview School in Massachusetts featuring works from the collection of Martin and Rebecca Eisenberg. At her gallery, which operated out of a space in the East Village before moving to Chelsea and eventually closing, Taxter represented artists including Kalup Linzy, A.L. Steiner, and Andrew Kuo.
