MIAMI, FL.- Since the introduction of its first camera in 1941, Hasselblad has made certain that their state-of-the-art cameras have been at the epicenter of man’s exploration and artistic vision. First into space with astronaut Walter Schirra in 1962, and first man on the moon photos with the Hasselblad 500 EL from the Apollo 1969 landing. It seemed only fitting to debut the new Stellar and Lunar cameras during Art Basel Miami, in Miami Beach, December 2-8.

To demonstrate the camera’s exceptional functionality, Hasselblad has invited 7 noted artists, art experts and aficionados to be the Hasselblad Ambassadors of Art and shoot candids of the art and design scene: artists Ryan McGinness, Kenny Scharf, and Penelope Umbrico, gallerists Janis Cecil, director, Edward Tyler Nahem Fine Art, New York, Alissa Friedman, founder/partner of Salon 94, Lisa Anastos, founder of ARThood and NYC celebrity/society photographer, Patrick McMullan.

Hasselblad is also the sponsor of the VIP Lounge at the Bass Museum of Art located at 2100 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The lounge will be open to Art Basel VIPs and Bass members during the Bass Museum Opening Night Vernissage on December 4 from 9 p.m. until midnight, and December 5-8 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition to refreshments and a place to unwind , the lounge will also feature a museum case display of new and historic cameras, including the Hasselblad 500 EL camera that landed on the moon. Guests can get their photo taken by a Hasselblad photographer with the new Lunar camera as an Art Basel keepsake.

Stellar, a unique compact camera aimed at people who only want the best, has been exclusively fashioned at Hasselblad's design centre in Italy and is set to wow amateur enthusiasts and consumers who love to take outstanding photographs and shoot quality video without having to worry about F-Stops and focal lengths. It is available in six exotic wooden handle options - including walnut, padouk and zebra - with every hand-grip meticulously carved from a raw block of wood and fashioned by our experts. And the sleek and sophisticated carbon fibre hand-grip alternative is crafted using the same compression moulding technique embraced by the aerospace industry.

The Lunar embraces the traditional Hasselblad state-of-the-art image capture combined with stunning Italian design features. For the first time Hasselblad is using carbon fiber, titanium, wood, leather and precious metals - including gold.
