老骥伏枥，走在千里。

　　陈希旦先生是我国水彩画界的领军人物之一。虽已年逾古稀，但志存高远，埋首丹青，辛勤耕耘。六十年来，潜心致力于中国水彩画的研究，创作、交流与推广。尤其是近几年来，为了实现“走出国门，走向世界”的水彩“中国梦”，他可谓鞠躬尽瘁，呕心沥血。

　　他的水彩画，在借鉴英国水彩画写实的基础上，融合了中国传统的艺术风格：用笔潇洒自如，用色丰富饱满，对比强烈适当。其立意构图、形式气韵、色彩光线，无不酣畅淋漓，亮丽透畅、游刃有余。在“水”与“彩”的空灵之间，每幅作品都彰显了意境清新、气势豪放之不俗功力。

　　本次展出的作品共分为三个系列。即：

　　一、 上海外滩系列

　　二、 海港游艇系列

　　三、 国外风光系列

　　这些作品，大多是他2010年后的力作。

　　惟愿观赏他画作的每位游客，都能感受到作品传递的正能量，得到温馨、恬静、柔美、怡人的艺术享受。

　　Determination leads to success. Over the past 6 decades, Mr. Xidan Chen, a leading watercolour artist, has dedicated himself to the research, creation, collaboration, and promotion of watercolour in China. Especially during the last 8 years, he has spared no efforts in realizing his dream: ‘promote watercolour, and unite the world of watercolour’.

　　Influenced by traditional British watercolour, Xidan has also mixed elements of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy into his technique. His paintings are full of contrasts - the wet and dry brush strokes, the vibrant and subtle colours, the light and the shadow… His paintings are also full of characters – decisive yet sensitive, strong yet gentle, rich yet transparent.

　　Most of the works shown in this exhibition have been created recently, after 2010. These works are categorized into 3 series:

　　1. The Bund, Shanghai

　　2. Water and Boats

　　3. Foreign Sceneries
