张瞄的作品透露出他敏锐的时代意识和深厚的笔墨素养,他通过嫁接西方的造型风格和中国水墨画的传统技巧来营造一种具有当代城市文化品质的水墨图式,他关注城市,关注城市里的众生,并且以一种适度的幽默呈现出城市生活里的“荒谬感”。
他同时兼任了两个角色——亲历者和思想者、当事者和观察者。也正是这种身份的不断转换才使他能够在内在矛盾的对话中把自己的艺术带向纵深地带。而他目前往返于广州和北京的两地生活状态对他艺术上的思考和创作不无裨益。
张瞄的艺术道路还很长,而他总会为自己的选择承担起关于艺术、关于个人所应该履行的那一份责任。

Zhang Miao's ink washed paintings reveal a penetrating sense of modern and profound accomplishment. He constructs a modality of ink washed paintings featuring the city's cultural characters by bringing together Western and traditional Chinese painting skills. Whether the city or the people who live in it, Zhang Miao pours his passion into them both in his paintings. He reveals a "scene of the absurd" with his unique sense of moderate humor. In doing this, he is playing two roles simultaneously – the one who experiences and thinks, and the one who is involved and observes. By the continuous switching between these roles, this inner contradiction deep inside of the artist takes the viewer of Zhang Miao's paintings into an unfeeling world.
His present travels to and from Beijing and Guangzhou provide a constant source of material for his future works of art. The pursuit of answers, inner satisfaction and the exploration of all that is around, is never ending process for Zhang Miao. His contribution to the art world is the same – never ending.
