BRISBANE.- Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art Director Chris Saines today announced the appointment of Adam Lindsay to the new executive management position of Assistant Director, Operations and Governance.
Mr Saines said Mr Lindsay’s diverse experience in the federal government and corporate sectors added significant capacity to the Gallery’s senior management team, with a number of current accountabilities shifting to his role and several new areas of strategic priority given the more focused leadership they require.
‘Adam’s high level of expertise in the public and private sectors, working both in Australia and in South-East Asia, was strongly aligned with the requirements of this role; including government, board and key stakeholder reporting; financial, administrative and information technology services; protection and visitor services; and facilities management and cultural precinct co-ordination.
‘With a background in the roll-out of the government’s digital strategy, Adam joins the Gallery at a time when we are placing even more focus on our digital platform. This, combined with his experience in leading human services, commercial development and strategic direction teams, makes him very well equipped for the role,’ he said.
In his time with the Australian Government, Adam oversaw the delivery of digital television to remote Indigenous communities. In 2013, as Director Broadcasting Programs with the then Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Adam led the negotiations with Australia's commercial broadcasters to realign the broadcasting spectrum used for Electronic News Gathering in order to realise the Government's digital dividend auction result.
Most recently, Adam was Head of Implementation for Woolworths, where he led the team responsible for the national retailer’s implementation, innovation and change delivery strategies, working in the broader context of its Australia-wide operational, commercial, human resources and quality systems and processes.
He will relocate to Brisbane from Sydney, commencing on 3 November.
Adam holds a double degree, Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Business, majoring in Peace and Development Studies and International Business respectively, and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political and International Studies, obtained through the completion of a dissertation on arts-based social change and using the arts to overcome bias and prejudice.
Mr Lindsay’s appointment completes the QAGOMA Executive Management team alongside Director Mr Saines, Deputy Director of Development and Commercial Services Celestine Doyle, Deputy Director of Collection and Exhibitions Maud Page, and Assistant Director of Learning and Public Engagement Simon Wright.
