Painting in Indian ink is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of Chinese art. Interest in this ancient art form - at present undergoing a renaissance - has never been stronger. Today's youthful generation of artists seek the inspiration of their roots, follow the old techniques and experiment with them to find new modes of expression. This exhibition shows how the ancient but still vibrant patterns are reinterpreted, renewed and exploited in fresh creative contexts and techniques.
The presentation includes works by Li Huayi, Wucius Wong, Qui Zhijie, Ah Xi?an, Yuan Jai, Cai Guo-qiang, Li Jin, Samson Young, Wang Dongling, Yang Yongliang and Yang Jiechang.
The exhibition is a production in collaboration with Professor Mark Dean Johnson, San Francisco.
