Material Girls, it's your dream come true: real costumes, gowns, and jewelry worn by Madonna will hit the auction block next month at Beverly Hills's Julien's Auctions, reports Reuters.
More than 140 items from Madonna's life and career, such as outfits fromEvita, A League of Their Own, and "Material Girl," could fetch up to a total of $500,000 in the two-day in-house and online auction that will go live on November 7.
"This is the biggest collection of Madonna items ever to come to auction at one time," said Martin Nolan, executive director of the auction house. Madonna's outfit, including the iconic pink gown in her "Material Girl" video was inspired by Monroe's dress in the 1950s film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Madonna's entire ensemble from that music video will be auctioned off and could set buyers back $70,000.
The beaded white gown the pop star wore for her role as Argentina's first lady, Eva Peron, in the hit 1996 musical Evita, as well as the wedding dress, veil, and shoes from Madonna's 1985 wedding to actor Sean Penn will also be up for grabs.
The Madonna collection is part of Julien's "Icons & Idols: Rock 'n' Roll" sale, which will feature more than 700 lots, with items from other pop singers including known art aficionados Katy Perry, Beyonce, and Lady Gaga (see "Katy Perry Channels Piet Mondrian in New Music Video," "Beyoncé and Jay-Z Pose with Mona Lisa," and "Lady Gaga Turned the Ice Bucket Challenge into Performance Art").
Julien's Auctions isn't the only one putting the spotlight on Madonna this week. The Huffington Post reports that American writer, actor, and producer Greg Scarnici, will be releasing Sex in Drag, a parody of Madonna's infamous 1992 Sex book.
