　　一个人在一个伸手不见五指的夜晚，用望远镜看着某物。他的行为是习惯性的，已养成多年，除了对他人的监视，别无他意。在他毫无感情的眼前，展开怪异的场景，其中向他投去的是另一种目光。这个标题为《250公里》的作品展现的是布满铁丝网的道路横越了整个朝鲜半岛。朝鲜半岛正是被这些硕大的铁丝栅栏分为北部和南部，呼应着意识形态上的鸿沟。南北两部分相互对峙，敌视对方。此录像集中探讨了我在服兵役期间所经历的朝鲜半岛上意识形态的对立和冲突，还有那些我在资本主义机制下所体验到的无休止的竞争。对我来说，250公里，不仅是南北相隔的一个物理距离，也是人们心灵之间的距离。我以此表达自己的愿望，希望能够缩小南北之间的距离。

　　A man gazes at something through a telescope on a pitch-dark night. His behavior is habitual, educated over many years, and has no other purpose but the surveillance of others. He faces another gaze toward him from weird scenes unfolded before his emotionless eye. The work title“250 km”is the road of barbed-wire fences crossing the Korean Peninsula. The Korean Peninsula is divided into north and south by these tremendously long wire fences evoking ideological gaps. The two parts confront each other, regarding others as enemy. This video is anchored to the ideological confrontation and conflict on the Korean Peninsula I underwent during my military service, and endless competition I have experienced in the capitalist system here. For me, 250 km is a physical distance between north and south, and also the distance between people’s minds. I represent my wish to narrow this distance between north and south.

　　1983年出生在韩国釜山，并于2009年从弘益大学绘画系毕业。因为在大学期间偶然的一个机会，他接触到弗雷德里克·贝克的电影，并深受启发，由此他开始对动画产生兴趣。他自学了动画，并开始投入创作。除了绘画之外，他就从事动画工作。在当代艺术的平台上，他在不同的国家和地区举办多次个展和联展。2012年他的个展“在绘画和装置上嫁接动画”在韩国首尔举行。他有一个计划，希望能够开办不同的展览来呈现出实验动画在当代艺术上的嫁接。现在工作和生活于首尔。

　　Jang Jongwan

　　Jang Jongwan was born in 1983 in Busan, Korea. Jang graduated from the Hongik University Department of Painting in Seoul in 2009. Profoundly inspired by Frederic Back’s motion pictures He found by chance during my college days, he became interested in animation. He taught myself animation, and began producing it. He has worked in animation alongside painting. Working in the arena of contemporary art, he have held numerous solo shows and joined group exhibitions in diverse countries and areas. In 2012 his solo exhibition grafting animation onto painting and installation took place in Seoul. He has a plan to present a variety of exhibitions grafting experimental animation onto contemporary art. He now lives and works in Seoul.
