Peter Fischer: Director Of Paul Klee Centre In Switzerland Resigns

2015-09-08 09:59:38 未知

The current Director of the Paul Klee Center (ZPK), in Bern, Switzerland has announced his resignation as of February 2016. Peter Fischer appears to have timed his retirement to coincide with the institution's restructuring, as the ZPK and the Kunstmuseum Bern will merge next year.

Fischer explained to the press that he would be stepping down to allow a new person to take control over the transition at the start of the new year, Der Standard reports.

The 59-year-old art historian has been at the helm of the ZPK since November 2011. According to a press release, the outgoing Director “cemented the institution's reputation as a top destination in the Swiss and international art landscape." The highlight of the Fischer's directorship was marked by the current tenth-anniversary year of the ZPK, which the venue celebrated with a number of high-profile exhibitions.

The new foundation under which the ZPK and the Kunstmuseum Bern will operate is designed to ensure the financial sustainability of both institutions. The foundation's board is due to announce details of the structural changes in early 2016. The Fischer will preside over the realisation of the exhibition "About Trees," which he will curate, and the Kunstmuseum Bern's upcoming show of the Uli Sigg collection, before he ends his tenure as Director of the institution.
