ⅠExhibition Overview

　　1. Objective

　　Baijia Lake International Cultural Investment Group strives to build the Nanjing International Art Festival in order to explore and nurture internationally recognized Chinese and foreign artists, promote the growth plans of artists, inject a new vigor and vitality into the Chinese art world, raise the openness and degree of integration with the outside world of Chinese culture and art, comprehensively raise the status and influence of Chinese artists and their work on the global stage, and locate the role of Chinese art in the historical development of the art world.

　　In 2014 the 1st Annual Nanjing International Art Festival attracted a positive response from around 5,000 artists, including both local artists and those from over twenty countries. The 2nd Festival attracted more than 8,000 artists, including both local artists and those from over 43countries. More than 210,000 people visited. Both exhibitions had a major social impact and academic influence. The 3rd Festival will draw on lessons learned while respecting industry standards, focusing on professionalism, academic value, and international promotion, while emphasizing the long-term growth of artists and working to prepare a high-level and professional exhibition and undertaking a meaningful exploration of the development of China's art and culture industries.

　　The Festival will use global and open selection methods to choose the best and strive to embody the spirit of artistic freedom and equality and provide a fair and just shared platform for Chinese and foreign artists to compete and display their talent. It will reflect the true feelings of artists towards society and reality, provide a deep reflection on and trenchant analysis of cultural diversity, encourage experimentation and exploration of the spirit of creativity and humane compassion.

　　ⅡExhibition Format

　　1. Exhibition Content

　　The third Nanjing International Art Festival will have around 800 works, covering various fields of contemporary art and performance media.

　　Participating Artists: ~400

　　Total Number of Works: ~800

　　Content Ratios: Paintings (Chinese ink paintings, oil paintings, prints, watercolors, other kinds of paintings) account for 50%; Miscellaneous (sculptures, installations, videos, photographs) account for 50%.

　　2. Collection Pattern:

　　Establishing this fair platform with active participation is intended to discover potentially talented artists and to avoid excessive overlap within the art community. The worldwide released notice aims to encourage submissions from excellent artists from all over the world. Artists can submit their information together to the online application form of the festival's official website.

　　Requirements for Participating Artists and Works

　　(1) Artists must be aged 20 or above.

　　(2) The participating works shall be the original works of the participating artists, and the use of such works shall not violate any patent, copyright, trademark and other intellectual property right. Considering all the artworks (shortlisted) will be delivered to the Organizing Committee and returned after the exhibition, and the possibility of winning prizes and being collected, all artists should own their intellectual property rights to avoid possible conflicts; otherwise, the Organizing Committee is authorized to cancel any certification or prize.

　　(3) Subject matter is unlimited, creativity freedom is encouraged. Any work related to sensitive political topics or violence will be carefully verified and is likely to be rejected.

　　(4) Two major types will be accepted: paintings (including traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, prints, water color, mixed media paintings etc.) and others (sculpture, installation, video, photograph etc.)

　　(5) Dimensions requirements:

　　Paintings: within 250cm×250cm.

　　Others: sculptures and installations should be kept within reasonable sizes, strong materials and simple operational techniques - please contact the Organizing Committee about special sizes; videos using regular projectors preferred; photographs within 250cm×250cm.

　　Enrollment Procedure

　　choose online “Enrollment” on the official website of the art festival (www.njiaf.com), fill in personal information and artwork details. Candidate personal photos and artwork photos require a minimum of 300dpi in JPEG / around 5mb.

　　Enrollment Deadline: June1st- July 31th 2016

　　Notice:

　　(1) All information should be submitted at one time, please do not submit multiple applications.

　　(2) Initial evaluation work will be carried out via examination of electronic information. To avoid any losses please do not send works by mail to the Organizing Committee; the Organizing Committee does not assume responsibility for the custody and return of such items.

　　Selection Method

　　Registration Data Compilation: August 1-10th 2016

　　Preliminary Evaluation Period: August 11-15th 2016.

　　Selection Principles: Select the finalists based on a comprehensive consideration of the originality, academic and artistic value of works that is carried out in a just and fair manner.

　　Finalist Notification:August 16th-20th

　　Notification Method: The committee staff members will send the artist finalist notice, participation credentials, participation agreement, artwork labels and other auxiliary materials via mail, while at the same time notifying the artists by phone.

　　Delivery and Return of Original Works

　　After artists are selected as finalists, they should send originals of their work to the Organizing Committee by mail. Every artwork shall be tagged with artist name, artwork name, and contact information for recognition.

　　Delivery time limit: August 21th ----September 20th 2016

　　Costs and expenses:Artists shall be responsible for the transportation and insurance of the participating artworks while the Organizing Committee will pay for the expenses of returning the works. All crates need to be prepared by artists, and the committee is only responsible for the transportation excluding the crates.

　　Frame requirements: All artworks shall be framed before delivery and no framing fee reimbursements shall be borne by the committee.

　　Packaging requirements: all artworks should come with strong, transportation-friendly crates; no crate fee reimbursements. The committee will return the artworks with the original crates.

　　Damages: in the case that the artworks are damaged before arrival, the committee will inform the artist immediately without taking on responsibility. If artists still intend on participating, he/she shall be responsible for all repair and related expenses. When returning artworks, the committee will ensure the safety of the package. In the case of any damages during transportation, the responsibility shall belong to the transportation company.

　　Returning Arrangements:Within three months after the move-out of the exhibition.

　　Award System

　　(1) Taking the academic theme as the benchmarking, ten artworks will be awarded prize with certificate. Under the principle of voluntary, the winner as well as his artworks will be invited to participate in the global tour exhibition for the prize –winning works in 2017-2018(tentative tour cities: New York, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, Bolzano. The details for the tour exhibition will be published by the organizing committee after the opening ceremony )

　　(2) The Exhibition will not award any monetary prizes, the Organizing Committee no longer has rigid requirements for the collection of prize winning works.

　　Publication and Exhibition

　　(1) All selected works will be issued a Participating Certificate by the Organizing Committee, and included into the Participating Works Album of the Nanjing International Art Festival published by the Organizing Committee. Each presented artist will get a copy as souvenir. More copies can be purchased at a fixed price.

　　(2) All prize-winning works will receive a certificate from the Organizing Committee.

　　(3) The Organizing Committee will be responsible for necessary expenses related to media promotion and publicity for the prize-winning works.

　　Statement of Rights and Responsibilities

　　(1) The Organizing Committee reserves the following rights: free access to the online enrollment information filled out by artists while keeping phone numbers, addresses and family information confidential.

　　(2) The sponsors reserve the right of exhibition, research, photographing, video-recording, copying, publishing and promotion of these works.

　　(3) Application for this session of the Nanjing International Art Festival shall be deemed to be consent to all contents in this notice and the registration forms. The Organizing Committee of the Nanjing International Art Festival reserves the right of the final interpretation of all the above terms, and final discretion on all the award-winning works.
