午后摩纳哥Monaco Afte 1996年作 80x100cm

　　摩纳哥公国（Principauté de Monaco）是位于欧洲的一个城邦国家，地处法国南部，靠地中海的南部海岸线，其他北、西、东三面皆由法国包围，为少有的“国中国”。摩纳哥旧城历史悠久。虽然面积只有2平方公里，但这里摩纳哥既有中世纪风格的街道和皇宫，也有著名的蒙特卡罗大赌场、拿破仑纪念馆、蒙特卡洛歌剧院、蒙特卡洛海洋温泉浴场、著名的网球公开赛以及在市中心举行的无与伦比的世界汽车拉力赛、F1一级方程式锦标赛，蒙特卡洛赛道上有过舒马赫和“车神”塞纳的身影。摩纳哥还有1955年第27届奥斯卡影后格蕾丝凯利的余芳。

　　程亚杰心目中或记忆中的摩纳哥是什么呢？这幅创作于1996年的《午后摩纳哥》选取的是一个普通的街景，运用古典超薄油画技法，学院派风格，细腻逼真，画家的独特的观察力和审美在画中表现出来，地中海式的白色建筑，百叶窗，阳台和法式风格支柱，复古的街灯，巴洛克石柱，还有蜿蜒的街道，留有F1赛车的车辙，朴实的木栅栏，人行道和分隔的铁柱，梧桐树白色的树干和茂盛的绿叶，两个行人让古老的街道复活了，树影，屋影告诉我们这是午后时光，我们仿佛感受到了地中海的微风。还带有淡淡的海风的味道。

　　程亚杰没有选取摩纳哥的名胜，没有描绘摩纳哥的辉煌，给我们宁静温和的氛围，给我们地中海和煦的阳光和微风，让我们体味着摩纳哥别样的风情别样的午后。

　　蒙特卡罗（Monte Carlo）是世界著名的赌城，摩纳哥的记忆无疑是深刻的，这和后来的程亚杰领衔拉斯韦加斯画派就不足为奇了。

An Appreciation of Cheng Yajie's Works: Monaco Afternoon

　　The Principality of Monaco (French: Principauté de Monaco), a city-state, is located in the south of France, closed to the southern coastline of the Mediterranean Sea, and bordered by France on three sides including north, west and east. So it is known as the rare "microstate within another country". Monaco, with a long history, has an area of 2 km2. There are lots of beautiful places and big events in Monaco, such as, the medieval-style streets and palaces, the famous Monte Carlo Casino (officially named "Casino de Monte-Carlo"), the Napoleon Museum, the Monte Carlo Opera House, the Monte Carlo Ocean, the famed tennis tournament, the incomparable World Rally Championship and Formula One World Championship. Michael Schumacher and the great racing driver Ayrton Senna de Silva once participated in games held at the Monte Carlo Circuit. Monaco also witnessed the success of movie queen Grace Kelly in the 27th Oscar in 1955.

　　What is Monaco like in Cheng Yajie's mind or memory? Monaco Afternoon was produced in 1996. The painter used the classical ultra-thin technique of oil painting to exquisitely and vividly depict a common street scene with the style of academism, which reveals his unique observation and taste. There are white buildings in Mediterranean style, blind windows, balconies, stanchions in French style, retro streetlights, Baroque pillars, winding streets, roads with the tracks of F1, unadorned paling, sidewalk, separate iron props, white trunks and green leaves of plane trees. The two pedestrians reanimate the ancient street. The shadows of trees and house imply that it is afternoon. We seem to have felt the sea breeze of the Mediterranean.

　　Cheng Yajie did not select the scenic spots in Monaco nor portrayed the resplendence of Monaco, instead, he created a tranquil and mild atmosphere, brought the warm sunshine and breeze of the Mediterranean for us, and enabled us to taste the unique charm of Monaco in the afternoon.

　　Monte Carlo is a world-famous casino. Cheng Yajie's memory about Monaco is profound, so it is not surprising that he later leads the Las Vegas school of painting.
