　　作品简介：

　　“夏虫不可以语冰”,是《庄子》里的经典语句，是古人发出的有限生命面对苍茫世界的无限的感慨。我的家乡是烟花之乡湖南浏阳，小时候很多时光是在庙里面玩大的,看师傅们塑菩萨像，画壁画;听老人们讲勾心挠魂的神怪故事。一个与现实不一样的世界便深深长成在我的脑海里。这个世界无法用言语来描述，会在梦里出现，好像梦便是这另一个世界;会在仰望星空发呆时出现，人似乎掉进了这深不可测的星空，甚至会恐怖起来，不知道这个世界究竟有多大?那遥不可及的地方究竟是什么?而正是后来读到庄子，才体会到古人早就有这种对世界的微妙体验，而且用无比浪漫优美的文字描写着这种体验。基于这些体会，我用动画这种方式来表达我的体验，用壁画的材料来手绘完成，以达到这份和壁画一样有时空厚重感的坚实。正如片中的人物一样，他们勇敢，不断探寻心中对生命的困惑。但他们只有三个季度的生命，这是他们的终极局限。在世界面前，这些探寻，这些弹指一瞬的生命，都如沧海之一粟。人何尝不是如此!!!这恐怕是人类永恒的困惑…

　　“One cannot speak of ice to summer insects.” This quote from the Chinese classical text, Zhuangzi, was used to express ancient peoples’ feelings upon the realization of our limited lifespans in a world without limits. My hometown is the birthplace of fireworks, Liuyang, Hunan. During my youth, I frequently played in Buddhist temples, watching the craftsmen create sculptures or paint murals, or listening to mythologies told by elderly monks. That was how an abstract world separate from reality developed in my mind. This world appears in my deepest dreams or when I daze out staring at the night sky. I began to become frightened when wandering in this world. How big is this world? What’s on the other side of it, where I cannot see or reach? It wasn’t until I read the ancient text, Zhuangzi, that I realized that my predecessors had been writing about these subtle feelings towards this magical world using beautiful and romantic expressions for hundreds of years. I created this animation to express my realizations during these experiences. The main characters in this film, though short-lived, are brave explorers. They face the ultimate limit that is the length of their lives. In their world, even the greatest explorations and lives are only a drop in the ocean compared to the whole wide world. Isn’t it so with human lives as well? I'm afraid that's the eternal dilemma of human beings...

　　艺术家简介

　　汤柏华

　　1986年生于湖南浏阳,2011年毕业于中国美术学院版画系。墨者文化创立者之一，于墨者文化担任导演,作品关注于传统元素在当代语境下的呈现,用缓慢耗时的手绘影像创作方式来表达其在高速全球化进程中对本土复杂审美传承创新的思考。2014年完成作品《夏虫国》,作品入围奥伯豪森国际短片电影节、萨格勒布电影节、爱丁堡电影节等多个国际电影节。

　　Tang Bohua was born in Liuyang city of Hunan Province in 1986. He studied printmaking in China Academy of Art and graduated in 2011. As one of the cofounders of InkMan Culture, he works there as a film director. The artist’s works concentrates on presenting traditional elements in a modern context. Through his time-consuming hand-painting animation films, the director expresses his thinking of how to inherit and develop complicated local aesthetics under high-speed globalization. Tang’s work, “The Country of Summer Insects” compiled in 2014 was shortlisted in several international film festivals including International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, The Zagreb World Festival of Animated Films, and Edinburgh International Film Festival.

　　清影艺术空间从四月开始推出一个关于影像展示的长期项目“对影”。我们将会邀请来自国内外的影像艺术创作者集中展映他们的作品，半月一期持续进行。这个项目旨在展示和宣传影像艺术作品，同时提供一个关于影像创作的交流学习平台，并建立影像艺术档案。
