　　BANANA ART SPACE创立于2017年，是由策展人和艺术家发起的实验性空间，希望以崭新的视角对话中国以及国际艺术动态，捕捉来自未来艺术世界的信号。BANANA ART SPACE的第一个空间座落于中国东部城市南京，它的创立将探索中国乃至全球艺术产业中独立艺术机构的另类发展方向，探讨一种应激的、灵活的、即时的、开放的、互动的展示机制和策展程序。

　　About the organizer

　　BANANA ART SPACE was found in 2017, an experimental art space that was initiated by a curator and some artists, hoping to create conversations with China and international art dynamic using a brand new perspective and also to seize signal from the future art world. BANANA ART SPACE set its first ever space in Nanjing, a city in Eastern-China, the establishment of which will explore the unusual developing directions for independent organizations throughout China and the Global Art Industry, along with discussions about exhibition methods and curatorial process that are rather exciting , flexing, opening and interacting.

　　“低级罗曼史”由策展人郑闻策划，邀请十位艺术家及艺术组合，以后网络时代的媒介生活与情感模式为线索，旨在呈现一场具有“后网络感官狂欢”气质的当代艺术展览。新千年后网络经济与媒介终端的升级扩张，导致了日常时间与人际关系的嬗变。网络时代的罗密欧与朱丽叶们，新的罗曼史的发生地从维洛那转移到了各种虚拟的乌托邦。而瓦尔特•本雅明笔下“闲逛者”的踪迹也从“巴黎拱廊街”转移到了Facebook、Instagram、Twitter 、Wechat等各种社交App当中。

　　大卫·芬奇说：“观众们总在期望什么——我的兴趣就是对它进行嘲弄。这才是真正的兴趣所在。”在消费文化的语境中，新的浪漫主义以及英雄们的身影何在?朗吉弩斯在《论崇高》中追求的“雄伟的风格”，以及“对一切伟大的、比我们更神圣的事物的渴望”夫复何求?幸运的是，相比较20世纪历史连绵不断的政治灾难，“崇高”和“伟大”与其被权力绑架和贴牌，倒还不如在消费主义的洪流中自我放逐与放任自流。“世界上的每个怪人都与我在某种程度上一致。”——托马斯•品钦(Thomas Pynchon)的言论仿佛在描绘某个更加怪异更加疏离的“反英雄之英雄”的角色。而把情书写在五线谱上的王小波，用戏谑的叙事降格了道貌岸然的历史，“黄金时代”中那些自甘堕落的小人物们扮演的另类精神的狂欢者，一不小心反而成为了僵尸以外“人”的声音。

　　在充满喧哗与骚动的、介乎色情与情色的、摇摆于纵欲与修行的…时代背景与精神生活中，本次参展的艺术家用语言之外的直觉方式，创造出新的罗曼史，这些罗曼史不仅仅是私密的个人生活与情感碎片的罗曼史，也是有关身体的、嫉妒的、街头的、思想史的、绘画的、愧疚的、反反复复的、嫉妒的、材料学的、尖声惊叫的、动物的…像东方皇帝的百科全书一样无法归类的罗曼史。而“低级”这一前缀，说不定只是一种高贵的自我沉沦，一种故意隐藏智慧的反讽——得以从更加“低级”的视角观察和嘲笑那个“高级”世界荒诞不经的全貌。

　　本次展览展出作品涉及影像、装置、摄影、绘画、音乐多种媒介，部分艺术家及组合更是擅长于跨越视觉、听觉、动画、RAP、现场、电子乐的综合方式，而使用绘画与摄影的艺术家也将展示令人讶异的风格。本次展览的呈现得到艺术家汤国先生及西城广场大力支持。

　　About the exhibition

　　"Degraded Romance" is an exhibition curated by Zheng Wen. Ten artists and art groups are invited to present their contemporary art works in the form of a post-internet age sensational orgy following the lead of living and emotional models in media in the post internet age. The upgrade and expansion of internet economy and media end-devices in the new millennium are causing a transformation of the usual sense of time and interpersonal relationships. Romeo and Juliette of the internet age are experiencing their romance in all the virtual Utopian worlds instead of the city of Verona. Walter Benjamin's flaneur have found themselves migrating from Passages Couverts de Paris to social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and WeChat.

　　David Fincher said:"The audience always has certain expectations. My interest is to mock them. This is where the true fun lies. " Where are the new romanticism and heroes to dwell in the context of consumerism culture? Cassius Longinus pursued in On the Sublime the elevation of styles and the yearning for all matters that are great and more divine than us. Fortunately, in comparison to the never-ending political catastrophes in the history of 20th Century, sublimity and greatness have been on self-exile and self-indulgence in the waves of consumerism, rather than being kidnapped and labeled by power. "Every weirdo in the world is on my wave length". Thomas Pynchon seemed to be talking about a more weird and alienated "hero of the anti-heroes". Wang Xiaobo, the Chinese novelist who wrote love letters on staff notation sheets, degraded the hypocritical posture of history with his bantering narration. In his book the Golden Times, the petty nobodies are a bunch of revelers of the unconventional spirits. And exactly these people inadvertently become the true voice of the human being amongst the mass of the walking dead.

　　In an era and a spiritual life filled with the hustle and bustle, being ambiguous between eroticism and sensuality and swaying between hedonism and asceticism, the artists of this exhibition apply an instinctive non-verbal approach to create a novel kind of romanticism. These romances are not only about intimate personal lives and fragments of emotions. They are also a kind of romance like the encyclopedia of the oriental emperor, collecting a mixture of physical, jealous, street, thought historical, painting, sorrowful, reversal, material scientific, screaming and zoological samples. The prefix "degraded" might simply be a noble self-decadence, a kind of deliberately concealed irony – with the purpose of observing and mocking at the absurd complete picture of that "high-graded" world from a "degraded" lower point of view.
