《栉》系列作品出来之前，我经历了两、三年新工作室装修的过程。有时候人手不够，要亲自上手和泥、搬砖、批灰、抹墙、刷漆……；实实在在地接触，让我极深切地感受到了隐藏着的末屑物质的存在性。沙石、水泥、粉尘、木屑……，它们的生命轨迹，在人类的眼里是那么的微不足道，卑微到可以完全被忽略不计；然而，它们不在意，依然执着地行走着，坚持不懈地抒写自己的生命直到永恒。我被深深打动，这就是《栉》系列初始的创作冲动。

　　“栉”本身的意思是密集的排列，我企图利用最常规的排列方式，最大限度地削弱表象，来突显物质本体；又好似生命的周而复始，在平凡之中体悟一切存在的意义。

　　《栉》系列作品开始到现在已有几年，作品实施过程中不断的搅合、涂抹、摔打、推压。有意地控制的画面，仿佛自然生成的痕迹；这种控制与偶然的表象，是在制造混乱，混淆视听，让尊重似乎转变成了蹂躏。每次静静地凝视作品，那些卑微的颗粒似乎都在挣扎、嘶吼，好像拼命的要逃离掌控；这一切每每让我陷入沉思，生命的意义在哪里？何去何从？答案是未知的，只有在前行与探索中不断地去发现，因为执着前行本身就构成了意义的一部分。

　　《栉》系列作品依旧在行进过程中，每天与颜料、泥沙为伍早已让我们成为伙伴。我不断寻找和建构属于自我的生命体系与存在价值，也让这些卑微的生命在胁迫中重新定义。

Foreword to the series of works of "zhi "

　　Before the series of "zhi " appeared, I experienced the process of two to three years of new studio decoration. Sometimes the manpower was not enough. I had to personally get started with mixing mud, dust, moving bricks, smearing and painting walls... I really feel the existence of the hidden materials. Sandstone, cement, dust, wood chips... Their life trajectories are so insignificant in the eyes of human beings, humble enough to be completely neglected. However, they don't mind. They are still standing persistently, writing its own life story with perseverance until eternity. I was deeply moved. This was the initial creative impulse of the series.

　　"zhi" itself means dense arrangement. I try to use the most conventional arrangement to minimize the appearance of the material and to highlight the material ontology. It is like the repetition of life, and realize the meaning of all existence in the ordinary.

　　The series of "zhi " has been around for a few years now, and the works are constantly mixing, smearing, beating and pushing. The intentionally controlled picture is like the trace of natural generation; this kind of control and accidental appearance is creating confusion, and and seems turn respect into devastation. Every time when I quietly stare at the work, those humble particles seem to be struggling and yelling, as if desperately trying to escape from control. All of these put me in front of a question: where is the meaning of life? Where to go? The answer is unknown, and it is only constantly discovered during the advancement and exploration, because the persistence itself constitutes part of the meaning.

　　The series of "zhi" is still in the process, and I have already become partners with pigments and sediments every day. I am constantly looking for and constructing the life system and existence value of my own self, and also let these humble lives redefine in coercion.

　　廖军伟的作品并没有单纯追求视网膜的愉悦，也不仅仅是追求形式感的“颜料崇拜”。在超越了颜料的信仰之后，廖军伟尝试在中国传统的叙事表现的方法中，建立起抽象主义所代表的理性思考，尝试让自己的抽象艺术不再是西方抽象既有的系统中的一个补充的样本，而是表现出其个人性与独立性。

　　Liao Junwei's works do not simply pursue the pleasure of the retina. It is not just a "pigment worship" that seeks a sense of form. After surpassing the belief in pigments, Liao Junwei tried to establish rational thinking represented by abstraction in the traditional Chinese narrative performance method, trying to make her abstract art no longer a supplement to the existing system of Western abstraction, but a representation of its individuality and independence.
