在画展开幕式前未能出版这本画册着实有些遗憾,总感觉来了那么多领导、专家、学者和朋友,一个大型画展除了展厅里能看到的东西,还应该有更多信息传递给观者,从而获得更多的反馈和批评,毕竟许多老师和朋友平时也是难见一面的。
四年多的这个专题创作,风雨寒暑万里,血汗煎熬日长,见多、想多、画多、写多,不计其数。陈列于展厅的作品计230幅(件), 约为全部专题作品及文稿的一半,收录于画册的作品则又有筛选,故未窥其全貌,留待将来做个文献之类的展览抑或一乐事。画册最后把展览部分的图片、文章等信息也放了进去,是为了完整地反映这个专题从采风、创作到展陈的基本过程,无疑增加了这本画册的文献性。
几位理论家、专家为画册撰写的评论文章无疑是这本画册最重的分量,不仅仅是评说,它们更打开了我的眼界与思路,让我更加自信地走在这条并不赏心悦目或者有些孤独的路上。在当下这样的氛围与生态里,能得到诚恳严肃的批评实在不易。
这四年的历程还得缘于各地众多同道画友的抬爱,以及当地政府和农民兄弟的支持,使我如沐春风,一路欣慰,一路凯歌,得以完成整个采风任务。在此,特别感谢方声涛、刘清华、方少坤、张品华、邹光华、彭爱琼、张建声、陈粤丹、钟旭、邓建中、莫肇生、梁勋、李秋群、钟英纣、赖为朝、黄家忠、项梁、岑雪静、吴锐鸿、郑中凯、何双秀、廖晋、孟科、余国良、黎炎球、邓栋宁、胡宇清诸君及各方朋友。
还要特别感谢在画册编辑过程中给予大力支持的何伟权、廖武、沈亚贝先生,翻译胡也女士,以及岭南美术出版社刘音编辑,他们具有很高的专业素养和贴心的服务。
画册做完,这件事情似乎可以彻底告一段落,结题了。虽然这个专题耗尽了我的心力和体力,但它仍然是我乐于付出并为之骄傲的事情,正如方玉敏所言,“这个粤东北的贫困山村,给李节平的艺术人生抹上了浓重的一笔,它实实在在地留在了李节平自己的美术史里。”“乡野考察”尽管表现的是乡土乡民,但却是对我的内在情怀和理念的一次拷问,它深深地刻在了我的艺术生命里,尽管是如此的不容易。

It is truly a pity that this catalogue cannot be published before the opening ceremony. I always feel that a large exhibition should provide more information to the viewer in addition to what can be seen in the space, thus gaining more feedback and criticism. In particular, so many leaders, experts, scholars and friends participated in the opening and some of them are even rare to see.
This project took me more than four years and I created numerous works under the tough conditions. This exhibition shows 230 pieces of works which are about half of all the works I created for this project. For the catalogue, it only selects partly works because of the limitation of space. Although the exhibition and the catalogue do not show all the creations of this project, I am glad to show them in the future. The photos and articles of the exhibition are put into the catalogue is for fully reflecting the whole process of the project from investigating, creating to exhibiting, which undoubtedly increases the documentary nature of this catalogue.
The commentary articles written by several theorists and experts for the catalogue are incisive and unbiased, which not only opened my eyes, broadened my thinking, but also allowed me to walk more confidently on this unpleasing and lonely road. In today's atmosphere and ecology, it is not easy to get such sincere and serious criticism.
In the past four years, thanks to the help of my friends and art lovers from different places and the support of the local governments and farmers that make me complete the project successfully with all the way. Here, I am especially grateful to Fang Shengtao, Liu Qinghua, Fang Shaokun, Zhang Pinhua, Zou Guanghua, Peng Aiqiong, Zhang Jiansheng, Chen Yuedan, Zhong Xu, Deng Jianzhong, Mo Zhaosheng, Liang Xun, Li Qiuqun, Zhong Yingzhou, Lai Weichao, Huang Jiazhong, Xiang Liang , Cen Xuejing, Wu Ruihong, Zheng Zhongkai, He Shuangxiu, Liao Jin, Yang Ruiyong, Meng Ke, Yu Guoliang, Li Yanqiu, Deng Dongning, Hu Yuqing and friends from all sides.
In addition, I would like to especially thank He Weiquan, Liao Wu, Shen Yabei and the translator Ms. Yaya Hu, who have given great support during the catalogue editing with high professionalism and caring service.
The completion of the catalogue seems to mean that this project has been completed. Although this project has exhausted my energy and strength, it is still something I am dedicated to doing and proud of. As Fang Yumin said, "This impoverished village in northeastern Guangdong painted a strong stroke in Li Jieping's artistic life, shaping Li Jieping's own art history." The Rural Investigation Project shows the countryside and the peasants, but it is an examination of my inner feelings and ideas. It is deeply engraved in my artistic life, although it is not easy.
