Gavin Delahunty Hired as Senior Curator at DMA

2014-01-14 10:28:19 未知

This spring, Gavin Delahunty will join the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) as its new senior curator of contemporary art. His predecessor, Jeffrey Grove, became the museum's senior curator of special projects and research in May of last year.

DMA director Maxwell L. Anderson commented on his newest staff member in a press release, saying, "Gavin shares the DMA's vision for the important role that contemporary art plays in broadening our community's understanding of the global art world, and its significance in revealing relationships and connections with art from other genres and time periods."

At the DMA, Delahunty will oversee the contemporary art department's exhibitions, programming, acquisitions and publications. He comes to Dallas from Tate Liverpool, where he has been head of exhibitions and displays since 2010. Previously, Delahunty was a curator at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art for three years. In Liverpool, he organized numerous exhibitions, several of which, such as "Alice in Wonderland: Through the Visual Arts" (2011), "Charline von Heyl: Now or Else" (2012) and "Chagall: Modern Master" (2013), have toured throughout Europe. Delahunty's forthcoming show,  "Keywords: Art, Culture & Society in 1980s Britain," will open at Tate Liverpool in February.
