诸子百家的哲思理趣是中华文化的重要组成部分，也是中华思想的根基源头，它们以不同的核心理念构筑起中华思想的基本面貌，千年赓续而形成了中国的发展之道、相处之道，中国人的人生之道、生存之道。袁小楼用绘画演绎先贤哲人的历史故事，呈现他对中华传统思想的认识和理解。

致敬敦煌

敦煌是中华文化瑰宝，蕴含着丰富的历史、艺术、文化资源，为后人提供了不竭的精神财富。以敦煌为题的艺术创作多种多样，袁小楼以他对传统壁画、古代岩画、佛教文化的研究，借以多种矿物质材料为媒介，用飞天、造像等敦煌壁画形象进行写意表现，以此勾连起他与敦煌的对话，表达了他对敦煌的崇仰之情。

体悟时代

当今世界面临着各种机遇和挑战，不同文明之间既可以交融，也不可避免地出现冲突。中国则以传统思想为核心，自我更新，海纳百川，兼容并蓄，为世界提供了中国智慧。袁小楼以自我回归历史现场的艺术化处理，用绘画表达了他以中国传统思想解答当代困境的思维方式，同时也以此展现中国传统思想的当代价值。

Culturally Rich: Exhibition of Yuan Xiaolou’s Paintings

Chapter I Nourished by the Ancient Philosophers

The ancient Chinese philosophical ideas lay a solid foundation for the Chinese way of thinking, forming a significant part of Chinese culture. They have combined to form China’s way of development, harmonious coexistence and a philosophy of life for individuals. Through his paintings, Yuan Xiaolou uses his paintbrush to interpret the historical stories of the ancient sages and philosophers, presenting his understanding of traditional Chinese thoughts.

Chapter II A Tribute to Dunhuang

The Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Gansu province, are a glorious treasure of traditional Chinese culture. As a rich resource in history, art and culture, it provides an inexhaustible spiritual treasure for future generations. There are various artistic creations themed on Dunhuang.

On the basis of his research on traditional murals, ancient rock paintings, and Buddhist culture, Yuan Xiaolou built his link to Dunhuang and expressed his admiration to it, by using a variety of mineral materials as the medium, and implying concepts derive from elements of Dunhuang such as Flying Apsaras and Buddhist images.

Chapter III Pondering over the Time

In the world today, diversified opportunities come with challenges. There is both convergence and inevitable conflict among civilizations. Chinese philosophical thought is centered around the traditional thoughts and features inclusiveness, can provide to the globe with Chinese wisdom.

By imaging himself back in the historical scenes, Yuan Xiaolou expresses his way of thinking to solve contemporary problems with traditional thoughts in his paintings, while showcasing the contemporary value of traditional Chinese thoughts.
