Also Gallery, founded in 2013, is driven by passion, sincerity, and an energetic spirit. Our mission is to discover untapped opportunities in the art market, approaching objects with fresh perspectives. When the moment calls for it, we carefully incorporate these works into our collection, offering collectors insights into the evolving frontier of art appreciation.

Exhibition Theme: USE LESS | Don't Buy Unless

Necessary

This theme reflects a thoughtful meditation from within the industry. We delight in objects but are also burdened by them. The most beautiful things in life are often without utility, and only when we acquire newer and better collections do we realize the haste of our previous choices—but this is all relative...

In this exhibition, we traverse time and space through diverse materials, tracing back to the elegance of the Song Dynasty; we introduce a new chapter on Tang Dynasty tea caddies ('Cha-Ire' in Japanese), examining the robust tea ceremony traditions as embodied by Sen no Rikyū. We also appreciate the delicate white lines of the Joseon Dynasty, tracing how they evoke a quiet sense of tragedy, while exploring the satisfaction brought by the vibrant pigments of the Tang Dynasty. Additionally, we investigate the reverence for religion expressed through stone carvings from various regions.

We invite collectors, after experiencing this exhibition, to pause, reflect, and savor the rare pleasure of purchasing, only when truly essential.
