在物理学中，低温沸腾是指液体在低于其标准大气压下的沸点时发生的沸腾现象。它同时也揭示了一个悖论，即导致剧烈能量释放的因素并非外部加热，而是系统内部压力的失衡。在这个展览中，“低温”不是温度的缺失，而是数字暴力特有的“冷性基质”。它呼应了韩炳哲所揭示的“透明社会”的暴力形态：当代社会的暴力不再以外部压迫的“热性形式”出现，而是以一种冷性的、系统化的方式运作，它通过自我暴露、过度沟通与去他者化，构建出一个“平滑的透明社会”，在其中控制取代了压迫，顺从取代了反抗。艺术家沈之结合traverse空间由混凝土、红砖与钢铁等构成的环境独特性，以玻璃作为主要载体，通过玻璃、金属和影像等媒介，将原本无形的数字信息和暴力转译为具体的物质形式。In physics, low-temperature boiling refers to the phenomenon in which a liquid begins to boil at a temperature lower than its standard boiling point under reduced atmospheric pressure. It also reveals a paradox: the cause of violent energy release is not external heating but the imbalance of pressure within the system itself. In this exhibition, “low temperature” does not signify the absence of heat, but rather the cold substrate specific to digital violence. It resonates with the form of violence that Byung-Chul Han exposes in The Transparency Society: in contemporary life, violence no longer manifests as an external, “hot” form of oppression, but operates in a cold, systemic mode. Through self-exposure, excessive communication, and the erasure of alterity, it constructs a “smooth society of transparency” in which control replaces coercion and compliance takes the place of resistance. Artist Shen Zhi, responding to the distinctive architectural features of the traverse space, which is composed of concrete, red brick and steel, employs glass as the primary medium. Through the interplay of glass, metal and image, he translates the otherwise intangible phenomena of digital information and violence into a concrete material form.关于艺术家About Artist
沈之1993年生于福建福州，2016年毕业于意大利米兰欧洲设计学院，现工作、生活于上海。其艺术实践以观念艺术为主要方向，涉及装置、雕塑、图像及影像等复合媒介。近期课题主要关注于数字权利、数据和参数化算法、机械生产中数据形成的数字人性，从现实角度作为切入点重构现实和虚拟的关系系统。Shen Zhi, born in 1993 in Fuzhou, Fujian, graduated from Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Italy in 2016, and currently lives and works in Shanghai. His artistic practice is conceptually driven, engaging with mixed media including installation, sculpture, photography, and video. Recent research focuses on digital rights, data and parametric algorithms, and data-driven humanity within industrial production. Using reality as a point of departure, he reconfigures the relational systems between the real and the virtual.个展：

Established in 2023, traverse is a contemporary art space transformed from warehouse No.9 of the former Beijing Textile Factory, now called Langyuan Station. Traverse is dedicated to creating a shared research+practice platform for artists, scholars, designers, and builders, in which calm and sensitive minds are protected in a time of ever-accelerating replacement of old with new, and to seeking artistic and critical ways of intervention through exhibition, publication, design, and construction.
