Myriad Blessings and Abundance Beyond Measure

The gourd, homophonic with "fortune and prosperity" in Chinese, and the fish, symbolizing "abundance", come together in this work. Through the medium of oil painting, Eastern auspicious connotations are woven into form and color, creating a rich, contemporary vision of blessing and plenitude.

In composition, the piece follows the traditional aesthetic principle of "density above, openness below". Above, interwoven vines and hanging gourds form a lush, vibrant focal point; below, shimmering water ripples gently as several golden fish swim leisurely, clear and vivid in their unhurried grace. This arrangement highlights the vitality of the gourds while establishing a rhythmic balance— through contrasts in size, solidity and void, movement and stillness—lending the scene both structure and lively flow.
