荷塘于我，是一曲光与色的交响。如陈子昂所言： “芙蓉生夏浦， 杨柳送春风。”荷开于盛夏，那是光线最饱满的季节——无论是初夏天的急雨，还是盛夏的晴阳，都为荷塘染上明媚的生命色泽。辛弃疾笔下“红粉靓梳妆，翠盖低风雨”的妩媚，与杨万里“接天莲叶无穷碧，映日荷花别样红”的绚烂，皆在光影间勾勒出荷的容颜。

夏日阳光明亮温暖，落在荷塘上，泛起一片金晕。我想捕捉的正是这种光与影的交织，因此在色彩中融入了饱和的金与橘红，与荷塘的碧绿形成鲜明对照。油画虽重形色，我却愿以更诗意的方式，如水墨般流淌，表达光色中的韵律与真实。

李白写道： “碧荷生幽泉，朝日艳且鲜。”日光倾泻于碧波，如金辉洒玉盘； 而南方的雾雨晕染塘间，又带来“山色空蒙雨亦奇”的朦胧。张可久句云：  “万顷玻璃浸玉壶，夕阳外荷花带雨。”雨是夏日的韵脚——江南烟雨、岭南骤雨，都在荷塘留下痕迹。欧阳修有“柳外轻雷池上雨，  雨声滴碎荷声”，周邦彦有“新荷跳雨泪珠倾”，声声滴答，皆成画面。

在这组作品中，雨也被融入光色的游戏。流动的蓝与青交织其间， 似水帘，如光幕，又如被阳光穿透的轻纱——在流光溢彩中，写下夏日之诗。

Flowing Light, Luminous Color

To me, the lotus pond is a symphony of light and color. As Chen Zi'ang wrote, "Lotus blooms by the summer shore, willow branches sway in the spring breeze." The lotus blossoms in midsummer, the season when light is fullest—whether it's the sudden rain of early summer or the clear sun of high summer, each lends the pond a radiant vitality. The delicate charm of Xin Qiji's line, "Rouged and adorned, beneath emerald canopies bowing in wind and rain," and the dazzling brilliance of Yang Wanli's "Endless green lotus leaves stretch to the sky, under the sun the lotus blooms uniquely red"—both outline the lotus's beauty amidst interplay of light and shadow.

The summer sun is bright and warm, spilling over the lotus pond, casting a golden glow. What I wish to capture is precisely this interweaving of light and shadow. Thus, I have infused saturated golds and oranges into the palette, creating a vivid contrast with the jade green of the pond. Although oil painting emphasizes form and color, I prefer a more poetic approach— flowing like ink wash—to express the rhythm and truth within light and color.

Li Bai wrote, "Green lotus grows by a secluded spring, bathed in morning sun, bright and fresh." Sunlight pours onto the emerald water like gold dust scattered over a jade plate, while the misty rains of the south spread across the pond, evoking the hazy allure of "hills veiled in mist, rain too holds its wonder". Zhang Kejiu penned, "A glassy expanse immerses a jade pot, beyond the sunset lotus wears the rain." Rain is the rhythm of summer—whether the drizzling mist of Jiangnan or the sudden storms of Lingnan, each leaves its trace upon the pond. Ouyang Xiu wrote of "light thunder beyond willows, rain upon the pond, its patter shattering the sound of lotus", and Zhou Bangyan described "new lotus leaping in rain, teardrops spilling". Every drip and drop becomes part of the scene.

In this series, rain too joins the play of light and color. Flowing blues and cyans intertwine like water curtains, shimmering veils, or gauze pierced by sunlight—writing a summer poem in flowing light and luminous color.
