“南有光而霞赤，东有色而烟青。”于我而言，朝霞开启一日生机，晚霞则沉淀为天边的绚烂。霞光总是引人遥思，正如王勃那句“落霞与孤鹜齐飞，秋水共长天 一色”——落日将天色染为胭脂，飞鸟掠过，如蝶翩然。

在这组画中，我将荷塘的霞光归纳为三种色调：烟波荡漾的青霞、金辉流转的明霞、胭脂氤氲的紫霞。雨后的荷塘尤其朦胧，水雾如纱，阳光穿过化为氤氲云霞，即便盛夏也顿生渺远之意。晴日向晚，霞光如金辉洒落，又被田田荷叶裁成片片暖色，融于暮气之中，仿佛一池流动的光。此刻金光渐转橘红，荷叶如披霓裳，临水轻摇，正如张均笔下“水光浮日出，霞彩映江飞”。暮色渐沉，天光隐去，恰似叶梦得所写“天末残霞卷暮红”。余霞浸染荷塘，莲叶渐入紫霭，暑气消散时，晚风拂叶，轮廓朦胧如罗裙翻飞，为一日写下温柔的句点。

这三色莲霞，各有其韵：清雅、浓烈、朦胧。我将莲叶与霞光交融，通过撞色增强画面的张力——青叶在橘霞中愈翠，紫叶在淡蓝天光下愈浓。在这里，色彩真正得以释放。形与色不为约束，颜料在交织与碰撞中，自然氤氲出一片属于霞光的意境。

Mist-veiled Glow of Sunset

"In the south, light turns rosy at dusk; in the east, hues linger in bluish mist." To me, the morning glow opens a day with vitality, while the evening glow settles into a splendorous tapestry across the horizon. The play of twilight always stirs contemplation, much like Wang Bo's line: "Lone bird flies with fading clouds aglow; autumn river mirrors sky in monochrome flow" —where the setting sun dyes the sky like rouge, and passing birds flutter like butterflies.

In this series, I have distilled the twilight over the lotus pond into three tonal themes: the misty blue—glow, the golden brilliance, and the rosy-purple haze. After rain, the pond turns particularly dreamy; mist hangs like gauze, and sunlight piercing through transforms into a veil of soft—colored clouds. Even in midsummer, an ethereal expansiveness emerges. On clear evenings, the twilight spills like liquid gold, sliced by spreading lotus leaves into patches of warm light that melt into the dusk, resembling a pond of flowing radiance. At this moment, the dazzling gold gradually softens into tangerine and rose; lotus leaves seem cloaked in iridescence, swaying gently above the water—an image captured by Zhang Jun: "Sunlight floats on ripples at dawn; rosy clouds in flight dye the river at morn." As dusk deepens and daylight fades, Ye Mengde's verse comes to mind: "At heaven's edge, evening clouds curl in crimson scrolls." The lingering glow bathes the lotus pond, leaves sinking into a violet mist. When the heat of day disperses, the evening breeze stirs the leaves, their outlines blurring like silk skirts swirling in the wind—writing a gentle close to the day.

These three hues of lotus—glow each carry their own charm: serene and clear, intense and dazzling, or elusive and soft. I merge lotus leaves with the twilight glow, enhancing visual tension through color contrast—green leaves appear more vibrant against an orange sky, and purple leaves stand out richly under pale blue light. Here, color truly comes alive. Form and hue are not constraints; pigments interweave and collide, naturally evoking a realm veiled in the glow of dusk.
