序言Preface

视觉与传达

应第五届‘幻·画’（国际）当代艺术作品展组委会之邀，让我就“视觉与传达”这个主题写几句序言。

说真的，近几年也写了一些“序言、前言、后记”什么的，感觉都没有什么东西可写了，尤其艺术方面，哪个方面都有人写过，感觉怎么写、写什么都赛别人嚼过的“口香糖”。

不过，还是要认真对待，关于“视觉与传达”，谈谈自己的一些粗浅认识。

听说“视觉传达”这个名词，也是个“舶来品，最早出现在日本，好像已有几十年的历史了。这次组委会主题定位“视觉与传达”，我想也是有所考虑，两者有区别、有联系，需要用心思考。

个人认为，“视觉”就是人类通过“肉眼”接收信息的一种形式，但凡人类能看到世间万物，都可以称“视觉”范围。“传达”则是人类通过某一种形式把自己想表达的东西传播出去，并希望有人能接收到。“视觉传达”实际是人与人之间利用“看”的形式进行的无言交流。

在当今社会，视觉传达的方式很多很多种，比如书法绘画、摄影摄像、电视电影、手机电脑，造型艺术、建筑广告、城市雕塑，文字图片、艺术表演等等等。

今天咱们就简单说几句艺术作品的“视觉与传达”！

一件好的艺术作品，如何通过视觉，传达出自己想表达的东西，这是非常重要的，尤其当代艺术。

从视觉效果上看一件好的艺术作品“要么灼眼、炽眼，要么醉心、碎心，要么不弄! ”

论什么样的艺术作品，都需要通过视觉来传达给“读者”不同的信息。

很多时候，当代艺术作品，都是在表达一种用语言和文字无法表达的东西，作者想通过自己的“心画”，尽可能的表达出自己内心深处想表达的东西，通过“视觉”“传达”给读者。

这样一来你就应该利用作品的大小、虚实、黑白、强弱、粗细、浓淡、动静、远近、硬软、直曲、高低、锐钝、轻重、缓急等等手法来表现出自己想表达的东西。

视觉传达与种族、地域、文化等因素关系不大，它是人类共同的一种生理上的审美反应。

解读艺术、欣赏艺术，就需要了解艺术，想真正解读一件艺术作品，就必须了解其产生的时代背景和作者的思想倾向以及创作意图，再去了解一点作者的人生经历。

欣赏一件艺术作品，尤其当代艺术作品，需要从多方位的审美角度去解读。

一件乍看感觉看不懂的艺术作品，如果你能静下心来，用心品读，了解一点其背后错综复杂、千丝万缕的理由和故事后，你会发现任何一件作品，都有着其时代背景以作者的意图和倾向以及无法直言的东西，这种东西就是作者想传达给你的东西。

无论开心快乐，阳光浪漫，激情洋溢，还是痛苦郁闷，孤独无奈，呐喊愤怒，作者都想通过“无言之美”表达出来，通过视觉传达给读者。

欣赏当代艺术，我更喜欢看透又看不透，读懂又读不懂，明白又不明白的这种感觉。

比如，你在梵高、高更、莫奈、克里姆特、罗丹、毕加索、赵无极、常玉们的作品里看到的是什么，我不知道，但我看到的都是爱恨情仇、悲欢离合。

这当中，无论是对宇宙万物的大爱，还是你你我我的小爱，还有那些孤独的无奈。

艺术和生活一样，艺术家与普通人也一样，都需要美，更需要爱。

只是艺术家通过了某些形式表达了出来，无论是造型图案，还是色彩染料，无论什么形式吧！只要能把自己想表达的东西，通过“传递”给读者，读者通过“视觉”接收到了作者想传达的东西，这就够了!

Vision and Communication

At the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the Fifth 'Fantasy · Painting' (International) Contemporary Art Exhibition, let me write a few preambles on the theme of "vision and communication".

To be honest, in recent years, I have also written some "foreword, foreword and postscript". I feel that there is nothing left to write, especially in the field of art, which has been written by others. I feel that how to write and what to write is better than the "chewing gum" that others have chewed.

However, I should take it seriously. About "vision and communication", I should talk about my own superficial understanding.

I heard that the term "visual communication" is also an "exotic product", which first appeared in Japan, and seems to have been decades old. This time, the theme of the organizing committee is "vision and communication", which I think is also considered. There are differences and connections between the two, and we need to think carefully.

Personally, "vision" is a form of human receiving information through the "naked eye". Anyone who can see everything in the world can be called the "vision" range. "Communication" means that human beings spread what they want to express through a certain form and hope that someone can receive it. "Visual communication" is actually a wordless communication between people in the form of "seeing".

In today's society, there are many ways of visual communication, such as calligraphy and painting, photography and video, television and film, mobile computers, plastic arts, architectural advertising, urban sculpture, words and pictures, art performances, etc.

Today, let's briefly talk about the "vision and communication" of works of art!

It is very important for a good work of art to convey what it wants to express through vision, especially contemporary art.

From the perspective of visual effect, a good work of art "either burns the eyes, burns the eyes, or gets drunk, breaks the heart, or doesn't get it!"

All works of art need to convey different information to "readers" through vision.

Most of the time, contemporary art works are expressing something that cannot be expressed by language and words. The author wants to express what he wants to express in his heart as much as possible through his "heart painting", and "convey" it to the readers through "vision".

In this way, you should use the size, virtual reality, black and white, strong and weak, thick and thin, thick and thin, dynamic and static, far and near, hard and soft, straight and curved, high and low, sharp and blunt, weight, urgency and other techniques to express what you want to express.

Visual communication has little to do with race, region, culture and other factors. It is a common physiological aesthetic response of human beings.

To understand and appreciate art, we need to understand art. If we want to truly understand a work of art, we must understand its background, the author's ideological tendency and creative intention, and then understand the author's life experience.

Appreciating a work of art, especially a contemporary work of art, needs to be interpreted from a multi-dimensional aesthetic perspective.

If you can calm down, read carefully and understand the complicated reasons and stories behind a work of art that you can't understand at first glance, you will find that any work has its background, the author's intention and tendency, and something that can't be said directly. This is what the author wants to convey to you.

Whether happy, sunny, romantic, passionate, or miserable, lonely, helpless, and angry, the author wants to express it through "wordless beauty" and convey it to readers visually.

To appreciate contemporary art, I prefer the feeling that I can't see through it, can't read through it, can't understand it, can't understand it.

For example, what do you see in the works of Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet, Klimt, Rodin, Picasso, Zhao Wuji and Chang Yu.

Among them, whether it's the great love for all things in the universe, or your little love for us, or those lonely helplessness.

Art and life are the same, artists and ordinary people also need beauty, but also need love.

But the artist has expressed it in some forms, no matter what form it is, whether it is modeling patterns or color dyes! As long as you can "pass" what you want to express to the reader, and the reader receives what the author wants to convey through "vision", that's enough!

Dai Donghui, a national first-class photographer, is a member of the China Photographers Association, a director of the China Art Photography Society, and a member of the China Folklore Photography Society. He is now the vice chairman of Inner Mongolia Photographers Association, the deputy director of Inner Mongolia Chief Representative Office of China Photography Copyright Association, the vice chairman of Inner Mongolia Portrait Photography Society, and the chairman of Ordos Photographers Association.

Claudia Shi is an artist and art history scholar now lives in USA working in abstract and multi media art, a graduate of Peking University and research assistant of Princeton University. As a Ph.D member of Cambridge University collaboration research program in History, Claudia’s artworks combine historical reflections and contemporary aesthetics as well as abstract expressions which have been displayed worldwide with awards.
