光绪元宝是清朝光绪年间流通的货币之一，由湖北两广总督张之洞率先引进英国铸币机器铸造银元和铜元，之后各省纷纷仿效。共有十九个省局铸造，除中央户部，地方省所铸铜元，皆在其正面上缘镌写省名。此币乃云南省造光绪元宝库平三钱六分、珍罕无比，钱币正面可见满汉文化的完美融合，钱币背面面则显示了中西文化的大融合,带着鲜明而浓厚的时代特征,历史价值深厚,颇具观赏与收藏价值。

      光绪三十二年(1906年)，清政府在天津成立户部造币总厂，铸造“光绪元宝”银元和“大清银币”。光绪三十一年(1905年)，云南获得批准设立分厂，厂址于旧宝云局地址上，现今昆明市钱局街。机器设备由德国进口，技术工人从四川调入，祖模系向天津厂请领，于光绪三十三年(1907年)八月铸币完工，开始铸造银币。

     此云南省造光绪元宝库平三钱六分银币，为圆形无孔的机制银币，重约：13.1g，直径约：3.1cm。端庄大气，古朴素雅，颇具赏玩性。钱币正面珠圈内镌满汉文“光绪元宝”四字，珠圈外上端镌汉文“云南省造”四字，下端镌汉文“库平三钱六分”字样，左右两侧各镌四瓣珠花，小巧别致。钱币背面珠圈中央装饰霸气威武的龙纹，神龙腾云驾雾，身体自然蜿蜒起伏，将满清皇族的气势彰显出来，左右两侧左右分列四瓣珠花与钱面相对应。整币铸造精美，设计独特，纹饰讲究，锈色自然，包浆入骨，图文清晰，龙纹威武严肃，龙爪张扬，遒劲有力，盘踞太阳，十分霸气，有着极高的艺术观赏价值，值得藏家们珍藏。
