当欣赏一件艺术品，我们常常会代入其创作背景，并在与之相对应的审美与文化体系中寻找解读的方向。但是如同艺术家任哲所述，艺术是围绕人性而生的。在艺术的眼中，东西方并不矛盾，艺术表达了人性最好的状态。
When appreciating artworks, we are used to learn about the related background stories, and try to understand the artwork within its own cultural and aesthetic scope. But just as artist Ren Zhe said, art revolves around humanity, and different cultures are not in conflict. Art is an approach, through which the characters of humanity are expressed.

生于1983年的任哲，是新世纪成长起来的雕塑新锐。他的雕塑作品具有史诗般的崇高美感，其中沉稳地显露出自己的艺术个性，从而使艺术创造显现出神采、气度和风韵。
Born in 1983, Ren Zhe is an emerging sculptor in this new century. His sculptures have the epic and lofty aesthetic. Digging from an internal power that fills his soul, Ren Zhe’s works reveal his artistic character, and innate creative brilliance.

“我的武士不是杀戮或者征服。武士精神是向内修的，不断地超越自我、突破自我。社会不断变化，人生有高有低。我们把握不住其他，唯能把握自己内心的状态。”
"The warrior I create is not meant to kill or conquer. The warrior spirit comes from a process of inner self-cultivation aimed at constantly challenge and surpass oneself. The society is constantly changing and life is unpredictable. We can’t control anything, apart from our inner state.”
任哲充满活力与写意的雕塑语言，来自于在中国传统思想中汲取禅修意境，并与西方当代艺术桥接，有着“蓄势于外，化象于表，凝神于中”的精神核心。
Ren Zhe’s works displayed a unique artistic language, characterized by vitality and positive energy. His works elaborated a combination of iconographic characteristics from Chinese traditional art and western contemporary art, which can be achieved starting from within, through a process of self-cultivation.
