王守清于1954年生于中国福建，1978年移居香港，1987年英国伦敦中央美术学院攻读现代艺术，1992年毕业于英国伦敦温布顿艺术学院。
其作品曾在英国、法国、德国、日本、韩国、香港及马来西亚等地多次举办展览。2000年获邀参加法国巴黎文化部《世界艺术大展》。作品《香港生活》于2003年北京举行的《第三届中国油画展》荣获香港唯一最高优秀奖。王氏现为香港国际艺术家协会副主席及艺术总监、香港艺术公社董事主席及国际艺术村（Res Artist）中国区主席。
王守清的「潜意识系列」为概念性作品，单一地以个人潜意识去引导创作。
Wong's Subconsciousness Series is a conceptual series of painting. By letting the subconsciousness lead the creation solely.
每一幅作品中充满了填充式的书写和涂鸦，每一层皆覆盖整个画面，层层叠加，先前的颜色变得隐约，画面也显得更柔和神秘。笔触的速度、疏密和颜料质感的交织增加了视觉效果的复杂性，产生轻微的浮动感。
The entire picture of each work is filled with layers of calligraphy-like doodles. Layer by layer, the previous color layers become faint and produce a soft and mysterious image. The brushstrokes‘ speed, density, and the interweaving of its texture add to the complexity of the visual effect and create a dynamic and sense of floating.

在创作「潜意识」系列的初期，王守清在用色上采用了极简主义，使画面出现极统一的基调。直到2021年，他尝试在这个系列加入意念、意彩和意识，使新一批作品色彩陆离斑驳。
In his early creation of Unconsciousness series, Wong adopted minimalism for colors, giving the painting a unified color tone. In 2021, he tried to involve his ideas about colors and consciousness in this series to make the new works variegated.
色块一致地自由无序，并显露出渲染和叠加之间留下的挥笔痕迹。在颜料半干的状态下，艺术家一如既往用蜡笔在表面进行涂鸦，同时形成刮痕，使蜡笔颜色和底层颜料交错缠绕。同样的处理令这些作品出现更大的对抗性，笔触也大大改变画面原先的节奏，出现另一种耐人寻味的效果。
The color blocks comply freely and disorderly and reveal the brush strokes left between rendering and superimposing. In the semi-dry state of the paint, the artist used crayons to doodle as usual. It formed the scratches on the surface, and thus the crayon color and the underlying paints happened to intertwine. The same technique produces a confrontational effect. The brushstrokes also significantly change the original rhythm of the painting, creating another intriguing effect.

由直觉式的挥笔所产生的书写和符号复现了记忆、思维和情感的积淀。在欠缺创作主体、逻辑和理性的画面下，观赏作品无疑是一种冥想甚至做梦般的经验，使潜意识中浮现有关生命和欲望重现的过程；而对艺术家而言，创作出回归人性的、极富深度的作品亦是个人情感和欲望宣泄和升华的过程。
The writing and symbols produced by intuitive brushstrokes reproduce the accumulation of memories, thoughts and emotions. In the absence of creative subject, logic and rationality, seeing such works is undoubtedly a meditation or dreaming-like experience and a process of reappearing life and desires deep in our subconsciousness. To Wong, the creation is a process of accomplishing and sublimating personal emotions and desires.

相信「潜意识」这个题目象征着观者和艺术家能在承继美感和精神行为的集体潜意识这个层面上，透过作品产生出微妙的交流和感应。
The title of "Subconsciousness" symbolizes that viewers and artists can generate subtle communication and induction through his works, in the sense that we commonly possess the collective subconsciousness that inherits aesthetics and spiritual behaviors. For the artist, such profound creation returns to the humanity.
