自话“脏墨”

王晓辉

  一只脚在中国画传统系统里,一只脚站在现代水墨糸统,有时站在传统与现代水墨系统之外,“狡兔三窟”是我工作的常态。进入与跳出有时是双跨有时是单跨,常常会并列进行,为传统理想而来,为水墨现代理想而做,为水墨未来理想而为,三个方向多项思考,有时清透有时模糊,来来去去,年复一年,日复一日的工作,倒觉得在转换中不停的忙碌是一种有趣的事。

  为理想去工作是一代人的特质,努力中的每个人会有一百个理由,让自己停留在某个艺术阶段,去臆想收获,但我停不下来。

  生活和成长经历告诉自已,活在今天与昨天有差别,而明天或许会变得更好,也许更糟。总之,明天是变化和陌生的,如果做着今天却从不想明天的事,那就跟活在昨天是一样。

  面对不一样的生活常态,艺术表达中的一丝停顿会让自己不安,所以,日常生活中自己总会有一种紧迫感,忙忙叨叨的停不下来,时常会把做过的作品搁置起来,去专心于眼下的事情,画些我不曾表达过的人或物,传达一些不同的情趣与思考,探索表达陌生的东西会让自己更专注,时间一长,生活中的表情会蔓延到纸面上,沁入到笔墨语言中。

  探索中,我不会把研究人物画现代性表达的理想看做是自已的艺术归宿,承传中更不想让笔墨像传统经典那样一直精妙下去,艺术的中与西、继承与拓展、传统与融合这些老话题,被围观了四十年,学了做了也很努力,但是,越是努力就越是害怕接近理想中的完美,越是努力就越觉得勤奋不是一件特别靠谱的事,是因为“话题”之下有许多事情都变得走了模样,有太多的新问题可能才是今天需要的话题。

  会时常站在自已的传统立场看自已的水墨现代,站在自已的水墨现代立场审视自已的水墨传统,发现问题解决的越多、表达的手段越高,就会觉得与未来想要表达的距离就越大,特别在今天,在混乱的艺术现实之中,觉得任何理想之下的艺术解读都显的很苍白,无序、繁杂,错落不堪的现实使我重新确信,生存中的现实与艺术、成长中的社会与艺术真是一种面对面的实景对应,面对这种景象只能说自已已有的表达实再是不够好。

  审视昨天理想主义般的探索与精神表白过后,会常常从内心生发出一种“脏”自已的快意感,一天当中凡是遇到不想听、不想看和不想做什么的时候,便去拾起脏纸自赏脏墨,多年下来,积攒了许多本该扔掉的脏墨废纸,每日面面以对,逐渐对“脏”墨有了墨分“五色”之外的第六色感,脏墨原本不是什么好,却越来越接近自已一种真实的存在感。

  “脏墨”如同生活中不得不说的那点粗言秽语,脏墨即脏话,有时不吐不快,所不同的是,脏墨是用墨来脏自已,画出来可以不需要理由,脏墨发生在每一天,似是无性的,不为传统、不为现代、不为当代、不为观念、不为创新、不为融合、不为风格、不为技术、不为理想、不为媚人……高兴与不高兴的,是水墨日常,是水墨理想的副产品,仅仅是自言自语而己。

The Aberrant Ink

  One of my foot is in the traditional system of Chinesepainting, the other is standing in the modern ink system, and sometimes I juststand outside both the systems. There is a saying, "a crafty person hasmore than one hideout", it is also my normality. Sometimes I am in both ofthe systems, sometimes in one of them, however, most times I am in aparatactical walking, coming for the traditional ideals and working for thefuture ideal of the ink. It is a multi-thinking in three directions, workingday after day and year after year, I think it is a divertive thing bustling in thenever-ending conversion.

  Working for the ideals is the particularityof my generation, every one of the people who work hard has one hundred reasonsto stay in a stage of art to imagine the gains, however I can not stop.

  The experience of life and growing up tellsme that living in today is different from in yesterday, and tomorrow may bebetter and maybe worse. In short, tomorrow is mutative and unknown, if you arejust doing something in today but never want to consider about tomorrow, thenit would be the same as living in yesterday.

  When facing different normal lifestyles, a pause inartistic expression will make me feel uneasy. therefore, there is always asense of urgency in daily life that make me never stop , I often set the worksI have done aside, and concentrates on the immediate things. I paint people orthings I have never expressed before and convey some sentiments and thinkingdifferent. Exploring the expression of strange things will make me focus more,and little by little, the expression of life will spread to the paper andimmerge into the language of the brush and ink.

  In my exploration, I will not regard theideal of studying the modern expression of portrait painting as my own artisticdestination, nor do I want to keep the ink as subtle as traditional classics.The topics as Chinese and Western art, inheritance and expansion, traditionand? integration, have been talked overforty years, and we have learned very hard and done a lot, however, the harderwe are, the more we are afraid to get close to the perfection, the harder wework, the more we feel that hardworking is something trustless, because thereare so many things with the "topic" have gone out of form, perhapssomething with problems may be the topic we need today.

  I often see my own modern ink from my traditionalstandpoint meanwhile examine my ink tradition from the standpoint of my modernink, I find that the more problems are solved and the higher the means ofexpression, the farther I am away from what I want to express, especially intoday, I feel any interpretation of art is pale and disorderly in the jumbledart reality, which makes me reassure that the reality and art of existence, the growing society and art really are a face-to-face real correspondence, inthe face of this scene can I only say that my own expression is not goodenough.

  After examining yesterday's idealistic exploration andspiritual expression, I often get a sense of hedonia to smear myself. Wheneverencountering something I do not want to hear, to see or to do, I just pick upsome dirty paper and paint some aberrant ink, for many years, I haveaccumulated a lot of waste paper that should be thrown out, I am staying withthem face to face , and gradually the "dirty" ink, which I call itthe aberrant ink, has got sense of the sixth color beyond the five color levelsof ink, "dirty" ink was not what good thing , but it is gettingcloser and closer to its own real state of the existence.

  The aberrant ink is just as the dirty words we have tosay in our daily life which have to be spoken out, the difference is that theaberrant ink is something I paint to smear myself, there could be no reasons topaint. The aberrant ink occurs every day, it seems to be asexual, nottraditional, not modern, not contemporary, not concept, not innovation, notintegration, not style, not technology, not ideal, not flattering ...happy orunhappy, it is daily, it is a by-product of ink ideal, you know, it just talksto itself.
