A renowned Chinese painter, display designer, art educator, and principal of the Changbaishan Art Academy, Mr. Liu Guo, alias Peng Sheng, was born on March 1st, 1956 in Fuyu county of Jilin Province. Graduating from the Art Department of the Northeast Normal University in 1980, he had continued studying art at the Zhejiang Art Academy. His career since then has revolved around teaching, art research, display designing and painting. He is also currently active in various artistic associations and clubs, including the China Artists’ Association, China Education Association and the China Industrial Research Association.

　　For years, Mr. Liu has led a simple life, devoting most of his time to studying the art of both the East and West, past and present. He was fortunate to learn from various masters like Lu Li Shao, Liu Hai Shu and Wu Zuo Ren. He has often journeyed deep into the famous mountains of China, especially Changbaishan, where he has perfected his skills in landscape painting. In the process, he has developed twelve new techniques of painting with ink. His works on the Changbaishan have been prolific, amounting to thousands, most of which have been exhibited and collected. Some have won his important awards.

　　Mr. Liu’s works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and Taiwan along with other masters’. His works are also in the collections in the Harvard and Waseda universities. In July 1991 he completed a 60 meter long scroll painting on the Changbaishan, which has been acknowledged as the world’s longest.

　　In additions to his works of art, Mr. Liu has also wrote and compiled various books on art, including “New Techniques In Chinese Landscape Painting”, “Beauty In Life”, “Continuity and Development In Chinese Painting”, and others. He has also designed more than 120 items for industrial display, one of which has won him a national award.

　　Mr. Liu has spent years in research into art education and training art teachers. Not only is he an accomplished artist and gentleman, he is also constantly seeking to improve and renew himself and his art. His works fully reflect the spirit of the times. His students are almost all teachers of art, and they can be found not only in China, but also as far as Japan and South Korea. His works are recognized and prized worldwide, with many kept in collections in America, Russia, France, Japan, South Korea, Portugal and other countries. Many masters like Liu Hai Shu, Wu Zuo Ren, Lu Li Shao, Liu Kai Chi and Sha Men Hai have praised his efforts in art.
