占山从不忌讳他是在老家白洋淀长大的孩子，他是跟着奶奶长大的，他是跟农村孩子一块玩大的。至今他提起儿时的故事，言谈话语中流露出的真挚的情谊，仍深深地打动着我，他不是一个忘本的人。他的创作以农村为题材，在画中可见到家乡的一草一木，可见到奶奶的影子，见到儿时的玩伴。
　　占山的作品色彩浓烈，阳光十足，视野开阔，正如他的为人豪爽、真诚、宽容，天生具有领导才能。这不是人人都能做到的，眼中不揉沙子的人不行，因为水至清则无鱼；自以为是的人更不行，那属于井底之蛙，属于没有自知之明。一群搞写实绘画的朋友十数年风雨无阻，周周踢足球，不只为健身，更为了朋友们有个交流的机会。这个机会因为占山地坚持而延续至今，此言并不夸张。因此，“一路同行”（后因此名被抢注而改为“同路而行”）一组成，占山便毫无异议地被推选为社长。
　　占山并不因此而自以为是，前日游山，对一山上流水是泉水还是雨水与我等争执，小儿李溪用“毛细”原理告之，并举例说明，占山顿时心服口服。“知耻近乎勇”，有些人遇到此类事会碍于面子死不认账，更何况李溪乃一黄口小儿。足见其心地坦荡，心怀宽阔，真乃伟丈夫也。

About Zhan Shan

　　Zhan Shan has never avoided telling people that he grew up in his old home in Baiyangdian. He was brought up by his grandmother and grew up playing with peasant children. Even now when he talks about the stories of his childhood, the true love that flows in his words still touches me deeply. He is a not a person who easily forgets his past and he has used the countryside as the theme of his works. In his paintings, one can see the flowers and trees of his old home, the shadow of his grandmother and his playmates in childhood.
　　In Zhan Shan's works, there are strong colors, ample sunshine and a wide field of vision. These reflect his characters as a forthright, sincere and merciful person. He is born to be a leader. Not everybody can be a leader. A person who cannot tolerate a grain of sand in his eye cannot be a leader because no fish will stay in the water which is too clear. A person who regards himself as infallible cannot be a leader either. He is too ignorant about his own limitations, just like a frog which only stays in the bottom of a well. For over ten years, a group of realistic painters play football every week disregard of the weather. This is not just for keeping fit but also for having a chance for knowledge exchange among friends. To say that Zhan Shan has firmly insisted to keep this practice going on till now is not an exaggeration. Therefore when the 'Hand in Hand Salon' was set up, he was unanimously elected as the chairman.
　　Zhan Shan does not become a person who considers himself as always right. A few days ago we had a trip to the mountains. Zhan Shan was arguing with us if a stream there came from a spring or it was just rain water. My son, Li Xi, explained to him about capillary action and Zhan Shan was completely convinced. 'To admit one's wrongdoing is close to bravery.' Under such circumstances, some people might still insist that he was right for the sake of face saving, not to mention that Li Xi was just a little boy. We can see that Zhan Shan is a bighearted and broadminded person. He is a true man.
