大清铜币是清政府试图将铸币权收归国有、加强控制而铸造的钱币。其铸造始于1900年，止于1911年，流通时间较短。

大清铜币的钱背中央为蟠龙，上端是“光绪(或宣统)年造”，下端英文“Tai-Ching Ti-Kuo Copper Coin”字样(大清帝国铜币)。其版面设计优雅，雕刻精良，且存世量极为稀少，大清铜币光绪年户部造“当十”被誉为中国近代制币中的十大名誉品之一。

当十铜圆的铸造工艺的不同，型制大小厚薄的不同，也是区别当十铜圆版别的重要之处。清代当十铜圆一般为光边，但是 也有少数省局铸有齿边当十铜圆 。亦有极个别的省局铸造了大于常品，或厚于常品的当十铜圆。

清代末期中央政府明文规定铸造铜圆的材质为以红铜97%--98.3%、锌2-3%、锡1%以及其他配合，此含铜量为普通版别，当时的官版为铜含量75%-85%之间，大多省局铸造的当十铜圆是合乎规定的红铜圆；而且，大多省局铸造的当十铜圆是合乎规定的红铜圆，但是，仍有部分省局铸造了含铜量仅占七成的黄铜圆。

现已在存世的当十铜圆中发现，四川、奉天、湖南、湖北、浙江、江西、北洋、山东、河南、福建等省局铸造的黄铜圆。其中，奉天造当十铜圆绝大部分是黄铜质，红铜者极少。四川、湖南、浙江三省造黄铜圆，现存世相对较多，尚不难觅。其余省局铸造的黄铜质当十铜圆，存世极其罕少，现今已可遇而不可求。

此钱币属于户部大庆铜币当十铜圆，制作极其精妙，藏品本身字迹，纹饰，包浆氧化较为正常，保存至今实属难得，是一件难得的珍品，极具收藏价值。
