   和田玉夹生在海拔3500米以上高绵延的昆仑山脉山岩中。和田玉原石经过自然的地质运动和冰川运动等长期的剥解为大小不等的块。

译文：Hetian jade is found in the rocks of the kunlun mountains, which are more than 3500 meters above sea level. The original hetian jade was stripped into blocks of different sizes by natural geological movement and glacier movement.

和田玉分布于塔里木盆地之南的昆仑山。西起喀什地区塔什库尔干县之东的安大力塔格及阿拉孜山，中经和田地区南部的桑株塔格、铁克里克塔格、柳什塔格，东至且末县南阿尔金山北翼的肃拉穆宁塔格。和田玉成矿带断续长1100多公里。在高山这上分布着和田玉的原生矿床及矿点，不少河流中还产出和田玉的籽玉。在古代，人们就认为昆仑山是" 万山之祖" ，它高大雄巍且盛产美玉，故受到极大的崇拜。而和田玉的存在又使昆仑山更加著名。
