“Water” is the thesis that I have been working on in recent years. I like its unique attractiveness as one of the basic elements in nature. It is the birthplace of all living creatures, representing life and hope. It attracts me with its purity, sensitiveness and the special way in showing light and shadow. Its fluidity shares much similarity with the impressionists’painting method in creating light effectiveness, which I make more colorful and splendid in my own works, just like the beauty of sparkling diamonds.

　　Painting is a sort of visual art. Therefore, something being painted is the media of expressing feelings. I choose water, which might remind us of the spiritual world of modern people, floating and empty, lonely and anxious. The wave and the shaking light and shadow enable the paintings of numerous visual effectiveness. By combining the method of impressionism with Chinese traditional freehand painting skill, I intend to express in my works what I see and feel in a blink of time. Impressionism and Chinese freehand painting skill are similar to each other in using indistinct images to express feelings and emphasize the inner world, the spiritual world of things-the soul.

　　Sometimes, what I feel about the world is different from what it appears in my paintings. They are contradictory to each other and affect each other. The people in my paintings are just visual symbols. The distorted figures of them implicate those people who are lost in their lives, but still keep fighting to live. Hope is just like the light and shadow of the water wave, which appears for a very short time and suddenly disappear. Never to stop, that is the spirit I want to show you in my paintings.
