红酸枝是热带常绿大乔木，我国北方称之为“老红木”，广东、广西称之为“酸枝”，《国家红木标准》定为“红酸枝”，红酸枝为豆科檀属木材，主要产于印度，以及东南亚一些国家。红酸枝木的新切面有酸枝木特有的酸香气，故称之为酸枝。
