在作品《习惯II》中，作为主角的是只乌龟，它是艺术家从德国回到北京后购买的家庭宠物。 通过“掀翻”这个动作，艺术家恶作剧式地颠覆了动物生活的“习惯”，讨论某种微妙的心理和控制关系。

In Custom II, Xu brings forth his tamed turtle to the camera. The creature that has silently accompanied with the artist ever since he started his career in Beijing was, in the video, upturned and clamped by the artist’s own foot. The domestication of the animals into pets is still a brutal act: at least the foot over the tortoise suggests so. Though if take a second look, the pressing of the foot is not as strong as it might seem. It might well be an attentive caressing, a careful fondle and fiddle that leaves his pet unhurt, escaping from its master’s control.

艺术家简介

徐渠，1978 生于江苏，2002 毕业于南京艺术学院美术学院油画系，2007于德国布伦瑞克造型艺术学院John M. Armleder教授和Birgit Hein教授的工作获得绘画和电影硕士， 2008年毕业于德国布伦瑞克造型艺术学院John M. Armleder教授的大师班，现生活、工作于北京。

徐渠在他的艺术实践上最具标识性之处在于他往往以足够的距离凝视各种价值体系的流动过程。这些价值体系有时是经济的，有时是关于伦理，又或者地缘政治的。这些被关注的事物经常带有某种残酷性，却在美学上呈现一种疏离的美感。

Xu Qu (b.1978, Jiangsu, China), graduated From Nanjing Art Institute in 2002, studied Fine Arts at the Braunschweig University of Art in 2007 under professors John M. Armleder and Birgit Hein, and finished his "Meisterschueler" (postgraduate study program) under Prof. John M. Armleder in 2008, and now works and lives in Beijing.

What distinguishes Xu Qu’ s artwork is his command of a critical distance where he investigates into the fluidity of various value systems. These value systems range from economics, ethics, or geopolitics. Although the objects of concern often embody a sense of cruelty, yet, they represent an alienated beauty aesthetically.
