“余光”在医学中又被称之为“周边视觉”，它决定了人对周遭世界的整体认知。若缺乏“周边视觉”，则会形成“隧道视觉”，其管状视野无法使人对其周遭处境形成整体认知，并置于危险之中。
这是一种从医学转向哲学层的思考。在志佳的“余光”系列中，他向我们提出了一个问题：我们如何忽略了一种“周边视觉”的感知能力。它涉及到关于艺术史和美学上一种“中心视觉”的批判，并使之探讨“非中心视觉”的可能性。“Peripheral vision” is a medical term, meaning the vision outsidefocus. It determined people’s perception of the outside world. A “tunnelvision” will be formed if we are lack “peripheral vision”, which could stop us from accessing a comprehensive acknowledgement of what is surrounding, and put us in danger.What is discussed above leads us to philosophical thinking from its medical base. Zhi Jia asked as a question in his “Peripheral Vision” series: What was the reason that we ignored the sensation of the “peripheral vision” ? The question related to the criticize of the “central vision” in aesthetics in the history of arts, and open to the discussion of the possibilities of “noncentral vision” in this context.
