这幅作品创作于1992年，是程亚杰对于立体派拼贴艺术和抽象主义的探索与结合。立体派拼贴（Collage）的灵感来自毕加索和布拉克看到巴黎街头贴满层层海报的墙面，毕加索将有真实质感的物件贴黏在画布上，打破了二度平面的绘画，制造出空间虚实的视觉效果。毕加索创作出的第一件精致的拼贴《有藤椅的静物》，那时是1912年。程亚杰把扑克牌运用立体拼贴的艺术手法贴在画布上，然后又覆以油彩，既有其特殊的艺术语言扑克，又展示其色彩的天赋。这两个的融合成为了程亚杰创新之作和独有之作，由此可见其艺术价值是空前的。

　　程亚杰表现的思想也是异乎寻常的。1992年是社会急剧变革的时期，程亚杰已经走出国门来到欧洲，东西方文化的碰撞与融合同样是剧烈的，继承与发扬，改变与创新就融合在这幅画作中。

　　后来程亚杰还创作了这种风格作品《拉斯维加斯印象》，又有了新的元素在画面中，不妨也理解成“世界语”，即程亚杰的扑克上的梅花黑桃和蝴蝶等，点彩手法也有展现。程亚杰的创新是不断的，而且似乎还不会停止，这种趋势表现在他2015年的巨作《明天后天畅想曲》。

An Appreciation of Cheng Yajie's Oil Painting Esperanto

　　Esperanto, produced in 1992, implies Cheng Yajie's exploration and combination of both cubist collage and abstract art. He got the inspiration of collage from Picasso's paintings. Picasso and Braque once noticed that street walls in Paris were pasted with lots of posters. Later, Picasso pasted the objects with the real texture onto the canvas, broke the frame of two-dimensional paintings, and created the visual effect of space virtuality and reality. His first exquisite collage was Still Life with Chair Caning produced in 1912. Cheng Yajie pasted playing cards onto the canvas with the technique of collage and covered them with paint, which displayed his unique Esperanto of playing cards and his talent of color application. The combination of collage and abstract art, as Cheng Yajie's innovation and exclusiveness, is of unprecedented artistic value.

　　The idea that Cheng Yajie delivered in his paintings is extraordinary. The society underwent a rapid change in 1992 during which Cheng Yajie has gone to the Europe. The collision and fusion between the Eastern and Western culture were so drastic. It can be seen that the cultural succession and development as well as change and innovation were blended in this painting.

　　Cheng Yajie later produced Impression of Las Vegas with the same style, and added new elements which could be understood as "Esperanto", that is, the clubs, spades and butterflies on the playing cards. The pointillist technique was applied to this painting. Cheng Yajie continues to pursue innovation, which is implied in his masterpiece called The Imagination of Yesterday and Tomorrow produced in 2015.
