写在前面

  无论是中国的社会现实还是文化现实,这三十年的变迁,都是一个巨大的难解难分的梦,中国的油画非常敏感的承载了这梦的焦灼与幻想,中国油画百年成长的历史,且不论它的成熟与特色,它确实与中国的社会现实与心灵现实紧密相连,这三十年中有几代艺术家在不同层面上展现了这十分丰富的心灵现实。

  在新一代艺术家中,白蒂是引起关注的优秀青年艺术家,她毕业于中央美术学院油画系,并且获得了在中国油画院深造的机会,作为新一代敏感的优秀青年画家代表,她不仅感知了消费主义的到来及其无孔不入的社会属性,而且更加关注精神与物质失衡的世界,人的精神生活价值主体和意义的失落,并且尝试通过油画艺术来表达那危危可及的个人空间。她的作品比前代优秀艺术家的作品更加关注意识形态的冲突,从而成为某种敏感的社会现象的切片,而白蒂的作品将会以更加敏感的个人体验阐释那新的生命形态,以及精神生活遭遇这从传统到现代社会变迁的现代性挑战。从她近期作品的低沉色调与人和环境的敏感关系,可见她介入现实的基本情感特征,并将这种个人关于当代社会的物质与精神关系的思考,也在新一代艺术家中延续,我们希望有新的成果,青年的成长有来自于外部的社会环境的压力和其内在精神的抗争,艺术之于这复杂的社会现实中艰难成长是我的期待的积极力量,而白蒂正是这种积极力量的代表。

Writing at the Beginning

Chao Ge

  Socially and culturally, the changes in China over the last thirty years have been like a massive and unintelligible dream. Chinese oil painting has very sensitively handled the worries and fantasies that have arisen in this dream. Without touching on the maturity or features of its one-hundred-year history, Chinese oil painting is closely linked to China's social and spiritual reality. Several generations of artists in the last thirty years have developed this very rich spiritual reality in different ways.

  Bai Di is a young artist who has recently stood out from the new generation of artists. She graduated from the Oil Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and she received the opportunity to continue her studies at the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting. As a representative of a new generation of sensitive young painters, she perceived the arrival of consumerism and its ubiquitous social impact, but she focused more on a world in which the spiritual and the material are imbalanced and the center and meaning of people's spiritual and lived values has been lost. She attempts to use oil painting to express a personal realm that is almost reachable. Her work contains more ideological conflicts than those of previous generations of artists, thereby becoming a cross-section of sensitive social phenomena; Bai Di's work interprets new ways of living through her own sensitive, individual experience, and presents the modern challenges to spiritual life in the societal shift from tradition to modernity. From the dark tones and the relationships between people and their environments in her recent work, we can see that she intervenes in the essential emotions of reality. She has continued the consideration of the material and spiritual relationships in contemporary society among the new generation of artists. We hope that this will produce something new, and that young people will grow from the external pressures of the social environment and their own internal spiritual resistance. I believe that the difficulty of nurturing art in this complex social reality will create positive energy, and Bai Di certainly represents this positive energy.
