展览“高速形式”的主体作品是一件全景式的大型动态装置——《高速形式 #1》。装置以一种松散的方式模拟了各地高速公路提供的日常、庸碌景观。这个封闭的线性走向空间就像是高速公路或竞赛车道，而在其中奔走、“竞速”的是受远程操控的电驱动代步车。这些特殊的载具往往被行动不便人士当作轮椅在室内空间使用。矛盾的不仅是竞速环境与以安全第一为原则的慢速载具之间的不协调关系，也是目光-身体-速度之间不合时宜的紧迫关系：在这里，观看经验既无意义又预示着危险，但不受乘坐者控制的载具、高速公路上的其他竞速者、道路状况指示牌、大型商业广告牌，乃至黑暗的道路都要求驾驶者分心，在高度集中的同时将自身撕裂。

The main body of the High-Speed Forms exhibition is the large-scale installation High-Speed Forms #1, a race track that occupies the whole of the OCAT Shanghai space. The structure mimics the mundane, apparently lacklustre reality of highways and drivings available globally. The enclosed linear area resembles either a highway or a race course, and the racing, speeding subjects within are electronic, remotely controlled wheelchairs. The special vehicles are normally used by those with disabilities in indoor environments. Paradoxical is not only the racing context staged for the low-speed rides, but also the inappropriate yet urgent relationship between the visual, the bodily and the speed as the exhibition becomes a race. Here, the meaning of seeing is complicated, charged with dangerous thoughts and scenarios, and the vehicles that are not controlled by the passengers, other racers, signs, billboards and the darkness of the road all injunct distractions, tearing one’s self apart as one is forced to focus.

艺术家简介

张鼎，1980年生于甘肃，生活工作于上海，是在国际当代艺术界最为活跃的中国艺术家之一。他常创作的大型机械装置作品具有强烈整体性：主题、形式元素与诸多作品部分的紧密联系让他的展览看起来不是众多互相独立作品的横向陈列，而是一件结构缜密、纵向构筑的巨大作品。他曾通过惊人的、有某种新粗暴主义意味的空间装置将美术馆空间转变为华丽而荒诞的囹圄；在互不相干、相距甚远的展览空间之间搭建观念性桥梁；邀请众多风格迥异的乐队、声音艺术家在舞台上同时进行演出，扭曲并压缩声音、影像、空间——在展览现场发生的，往往不是创作成果，而是艺术创作过程。

Zhang Ding, born in 1980 in Gansu Province, based in Shanghai, is one of the most active and influential Chinese artists in the international art scene. His large-scale installations are often total in nature; the integrated and meticulously structured relationships between given motifs and formal elements bring various components together into an architectural totality. From a New Brutalist gesture that locks down a museum space, turning it into a prison; a conceptual and physical staircase between different project spaces in downtown Beijing; a series of gigs over a period of fortnight at the ICA London, inviting bands and musicians to improvise one next to another, compressing and distorting sounds, images and spaces, Zhang Ding presents and deals with live processes and experiences.
