釉里红是元代景德镇窑创烧的一个品种，烧成难度大。此件釉里红花卉盘继承了元代釉里红的烧制技术，红呈色较纯正，纹饰清晰，是明初景德镇釉里红之佳作。此件拍品敞口，略外撇，浅弧腹，平底，圈足呈梯形，细砂底，泛火石红色，盘胎体厚重。图案采用釉里红线绘装饰技法，颜色鲜亮。盘心为主题纹饰，内绘凤穿牡丹，凤穿牡丹是中国工艺美术中的传统纹饰。凤凰为鸟中之王，牡丹为花中之王，凤穿牡丹象征着荣华富贵。内壁转折处绘两两对称的花卉图案，装饰繁缛，勾绘娴熟。

目前传世或出土的元末明初之釉里红器极少，成功者更为少见。此盘不仅釉下红色纯正，釉面匀净，且造型端庄规整，纹饰描绘更是细腻精致，自然生动，其纹饰繁密，在品种、数量都不甚多的元末明初釉里红器中堪称珍品。
