这里所提到的变象中的真实是指在绘画中,在虚无的迷离的不确定的表象下却传达着一种真实的情绪、真实的体验、真实的气氛。不管你采用一种什么样的艺术形式,当你能进入一个自由的创作状态时,作品与思想与心灵是共融的,是相通的。你的思想、你的心象总是能通过一种特殊的途径体现在你的作品中。"象由心生"在绘画里是很重要的体现。绘画就是心灵的痕迹,通过不同的媒介、不同的材质呈现出多样的视觉魅力。这就是生活与艺术之间最稳定的关系。除了能用语言来表达得合情合理的事件之外,总有那么一些东西是不能顺理成章的,也不能理所当然的,更无法表达得清楚的。在美好的生活表象之下,常常潜藏着不安与危机,而在危情里又总能隐含着勃勃生机。人生千回百转,充满未知的可能性。而矛盾和失衡几乎是生活在快速发展的社会中的我们最明显的心理表现特征。在很多的时候,我们落伍了我们却不愿意掉队,我们失落了却还充满热情并勇往直前,我们坦诚相对却还蕴藏着一个阴谋,我们精灵古怪却简单如同清汤,随时矛盾随地挣扎。因而时而膨胀时而自卑,时而狂喜时而忧郁,时而激情时而颓废,时而逃避时而勇敢……迷惘却意志坚定。于是使得情绪复杂多变起伏无常,周而复始,永无解决之时。情绪是一种捉摸不透,最为迷离不定的元素,然而极富影响力和穿透力,在艺术表现当中它可以上升为情绪感染力。它依靠一种气场让观者凭借自己的想象力和个人的体悟能力将作者的彼时彼情还原到最佳程度,从而引发观者心灵的共鸣。我个人认为这就是绘画的最有价值之处。在我的绘画里,我尽可能用一种恰当的技法和图像来牵引出这些变幻不定的无形的情绪。也就是尝试去用一种个性化的语言来表达这么一种迷离的冲突的精神状态和心理矛盾。
事实上,在一个如此敞开的信息时代里,注定了我们轻易地持有一种自由开放的创作心态。在我个人的绘画里,我更喜欢可以发挥更多想象力的元素,喜欢更多未知的不确定的因素呈现在作品里。在空白的画布前清空思想,等待更多偶然的效果与出乎意料的形体和材质,这是我的创作方式。而在形象慢慢显现的过程中,我创作中的不确定性也慢慢弥漫开来。我越是投入这种不确定性就越强。我不自觉地去吸收不同风格不同文化不同艺术门类的养分,然后杂糅在一起,而冲突使一切变得统一。比方说,我喜欢中国画大泼墨中瞬间定格和有着各种可能性的特质,它极大地发挥了绘画中偶然效果的形成,常常给你带来惊喜,它既是洒脱的又是含蓄的。我又喜欢西方绘画中比较直观的表达方式,喜欢文艺复兴时期米开朗基罗的雕塑作品里对造型体块的严谨把握,也喜欢中国晋代清瘦骨感的平面化处理的人物造型。我喜欢我国大西北信天游中情感表达的朴素,也喜欢西方摇滚乐中澎湃的激情里夹杂着绝望。我喜欢原始的农耕生活,却同样期待美国苹果公司的最新产品。总之,所有的矛盾似乎也不成矛盾,所有的冲突也不成为冲突。我们面临的是一个如此浩瀚的无国界的知识海洋,思维自然是复合的、混杂的,不确定的,这就是唯一的确定。就如同生活中,我们向往着阳光,却身处阴影;我们等待幸福,却迎着无奈;我们渴望绚烂却更突显了生命的脆弱。在绘画里,我寻找的正是一种行走于两极之间不确定的冲突。我思想保守却企图能通过探索可以创出一种新绘画,我无所事事却整天忙碌,如此虚无却总惦记着要脚踏实地,一步一个脚印,让情绪于无可救药的侵蚀中在绘画里转换为一种不确定的元素,敏感,激情暗涌,永不停止,最终蔓延成一种坚韧的力量。
The truth in Variation mentioned here means that there’s still real emotion, experience and atmosphere in paintings beneath the blurred and uncertain surface. When you enter free creation state, whatever art style you choose, art works and ideas are connected directly to your heart. Your mind and heart can always be illustrated in your works in a special way. ”Xiangyouxinsheng”, Images Creating from Heart, is a significant phenomenon in painting. Painting is the trace of heart. Using different media and materials can illustrate all kinds of visual fascination. This is the most stable relation between life and art. Except reasonable events that can use language to express, there’re still some unreasonable things without logic that cannot describe by words. Beneath the surface of happy life, usually uncertainty and crisis are concealing there, but there’s also new hope contained in crisis. Countless uncertainties exist in our lives. Contradiction and unbalance are nearly most evident psychological expression characters in the fast developing society. In most cases, we fall behind but do not want to be dropped off; we feel upset but still endeavor to go forward with passion; we are honest to each other but there’s a scheme in our relation; we have lots of wacky ideas but are simple as clear soup. Thus a lot of contradiction and struggle exist in our life. That’s why sometimes we are arrogant, sometimes self-abased; sometimes ecstatic, sometimes dejected; sometimes escapist, sometimes brave…perplexed but steadfast. Hence our emotion becomes complex and changeable, which will go round and round without appropriate solutions. Emotion is a kind of forever-changing element, but it is very influential and has very big power of penetration. In the emotional expression, it will ascend to the power of emotional infectivity. With a special atmosphere, paintings guide audience with their ability of imagination and recognition to restore and experience artists’ emotion to the best state, and stimulate spiritual resonance. I believe this should be the biggest value of painting. In my paintings, I attempt to use some appropriate skills and images to arouse these uncertain emotions. In other words, I’ll use one personalized language to express such a blurred and conflicting mental state and psychological contradiction.
Actually, such an open information era is bound to produce one kind of free and open creation mentality. In my own paintings, I prefer giving more attention to elements that can express my imagination and presenting more uncertain factors in art works. It is my creation way to clear my mind in front of the blank canvas and wait for more incidental effects and unexpected forms and materials. In the process of images’ appearing, uncertainty pervades in my works. The more deeply I concentrate on the work, the more uncertain factors will produce. I assimilate nutrient from different styles, cultures and art categories, and combine them. Conflicts lead all things unite together. For example, I like instant freeze-frame and special characters in Chinese splash-ink, a technique of Chinese ink-painting, which usually involves lots of incidental effects bringing about a surprise for artists and audience. It is carefree but implicit; I also prefer relatively direct expression in western paintings. I prefer strict sculpting skill presented in Michelangelo’s sculptures in renaissance; I also prefer the planarity of figures in Chinese paintings in Jin Dynasty. I prefer the simplicity in Xintianyou, a kind of Shanxi local melody, in North-west China; I also prefer the passion with kind of hopelessness in Rock and Roll in western countries. I prefer original farm life; I also anticipate the latest production of Apple Inc. In brief, all contradictions seem not to be contradictions; all conflicts seem not to be conflicts. What we are facing is a vast borderless knowledge sea. Thus our minds are compound, complex and uncertain. That’s the only confirmed thing. Just like in life, we look forward to basking under sunshine, but mostly hide ourselves in shadow; we wait for happiness, but encounter with dilemma; we desire excellence, but on the contrary it makes the fragility of life more prominent. In painting, I’m searching for one uncertain conflict hovering between two poles. I’m reserved but try to find a new style of painting. I haven’t done anything in my life but am always very busy. Though I’m very inane, I still hope to come down to ground. In the incurable erosion of mind, painting turns to be one uncertain factor—sensitive, passionate, ceaseless, and finally transforms to be one tenacious power.
