我与许莹在美院同窗四年，向来欣赏她的才华横溢、洒脱的性格。毕业后她在美院先后师从田黎明、李少文老师一直念到博士，而我去了东京艺大。一别就是十余载。再见许莹的画，真让我从心底感到喜欢得不得了。毫不夸张的说，她刷新了我对当代水墨人物画的印象。我惊讶她的作品数量之多。钦佩她的勤奋努力。在这个诱惑众多的时代能把自己关在画室里埋头于创作是多麽难得，而更可贵的是她对每一张作品都是那么真诚。我相信看了她对画中人物细致入微的描绘，大家也一定会被她的真诚所打动。她的作品有功力而不落于俗套；构图、造型严谨而不失灵动潇洒；主张了自我而不哗众取宠；有时代气息而不肤浅浮躁。每一个线条，每一道色彩都完全成了她自己的语言，给我们讲述着现代都市中新的故事。

　　Xu Ying and I are classmates for four years in Central Academy of Fine Arts. I always appreciate her talented and unbuttoned character. After graduation, she respectively was a student of Tian Liming teacher and Li Shaowen teacher until got the degree of PhD, while I went to Tokyo University of Arts to study. This separation is 10 years. When saw Xu Ying's paintings again, I like them very much from the bottom of my heart. It is no exaggeration to say that she refreshes my impression on contemporary ink-figure-painting. I was surprised by the sheer number of her works. Admiration for her hard work. In this era of numerous temptations, it is rare that she is able to shut herself in the studio for creating paintings. And the more valuable is every one of her works is so sincere. I believe each person will be moved by her sincerity from carefully portrayed figures in the paintings. Her works have skill without falling into cliché, have rigorous composition and shape with smart and handsome, advocate self without grandstanding, and have contemporary spirit rather than superficial impetuous. Every line or every color fully becomes her own language which tells the stories of the new modern city.
