不学·无术——德国艺术家克里斯（Chris）中国首次个展

No learning, no skill

与德意志民族恪守和践行的严谨精神和井然秩序相比，作为艺术家的克里斯（Chris），似乎有些叛逆，敢于打破一切传统和程式化的创作思维和方法，毫无羁绊且又能特立独行地追求自由是他一直的艺术冲动。

Compared with the rigorous and order spirit that normal German have, Christoph , as an artist, seems to be a little rebellious. He dares to break all the traditional and stylized creative thinking and methods. He has no fetters and pursues independent freedom, which is his straight artistic impulse.

“不学”，不是指不注重知识迭代和思想进化的形而上的深度学习，而是指主动拒绝或摒弃对艺术史上功成名就者的形而下的简单模仿。

"No learning" does not mean the metaphysical deep learning that does not pay attention to knowledge iteration and thought evolution, but means the active rejection or abandonment of the simple imitation of the successful figures in the art history.

“无术”，不是指没有从“学术”层面追求和形成自己个性化的艺术语言和风格，而是不拘泥于艺术在“术”的层面的束缚，敢于追求自由的新跑道。

"No skill" does not mean that we have not pursued or formed our own personalized artistic language from the "academic" level, but we dare to pursue a new runway of freedom, regardless of the fetter of art on the "technical" level.

克里斯出生在德国，毕业于FKS艺术学院（斯图加特自由艺术学院）艺术和平面设计专业，长期生活和工作于瑞士巴塞尔。瑞士作为达达主义的发源地，克里斯艺术创作显然深受其环境影响并践行其中。作为一个经过专业训练的平面艺术家，受达达主义的影响，克里斯艺术创作很快就脱离了古典绘画束缚，脱离简简单单的静态平面作品。为寻求新艺术可能和刺激，克里斯动用所有可能的方法：从绘画、喷漆，到摄影和拼贴画，他把多彩的线条和充满戏剧性的文字和句子通过涂鸦融合在一起，甚至包括视频。

Born in Germany, Chris graduated from FKS Art Institute (in Stuttgart) majoring in art and graphic design. He has lived and worked in Basel, Switzerland, for a long time. As the birthplace of Dadaism, Chris's art creation is obviously deeply influenced and practiced by this environment. As a professional graphic artist, influenced by Dadaism, Chris's artistic creation soon broke away from the shackles of classical painting and simple static graphic works. In order to seek the possibility and stimulation of new art, Chris uses all possible methods: from painting, spraying, photography and collage, he combines colorful lines and dramatic words and sentences through graffiti, even video.

理查德是克里斯最喜欢的艺术家也是他的榜样。这位美国艺术家早在20世纪70年代就已经打破了古典绘画的顽固性。克里斯也希望当他从各种各样的地方收集素材和学习技巧时，能够让自己的创作无视社会的老旧规则。克里斯一直在尝试把各种素材巧妙地放置在一个新的时代背景下解读，让当代的元素从老的背景中脱颖而出。

Richard is Chris's favorite artist and an example. As early as the 1970s, this American artist has broken the obstinacy of classical painting. Chris also hopes that when he collects materials and learning skills from various places, he can make his creation ignore the old rules of society. Chris has been trying to put all kinds of materials cleverly in a new era background, so that contemporary elements can stand out from the old background.

"Chris's work is usually familiar, but a closer look reveals surreal or grotesque connotations. Painting and collage bring young vitality and lightness. This art process is very experimental. "

“我的拼贴作品不仅意味着一种特殊的技巧，更意味着一种观点和方法，是对固定的含义或期望提出尖锐的质疑。我试图把一些组合定义为新的、未被使用的含义。然而，这种状态有时必须自发地发生。因此这种做法需要速度，使人能够把自己的想法快速反应在纸上。”

"My collage work not only means a special skill, but also a point of view and method. It is a sharp query on the fixed meaning or expectation. I try to define some combinations as new, unused meanings. However, this state sometimes has to happen spontaneously. So it needs speed so that people can quickly reflect their ideas on paper. "

十分荣幸的是，百家湖国际展览有限公司能成为克里斯在中国首次大型个展的的主办方，本次展览将展出克里斯不同时期代表作品近50件，其中包括6件行为艺术视频作品。展览即将开幕之际，诚挚感谢知名企业家、收藏家冯圣君先生及其德国企业合伙人，一年多来为此次展览促成所付出的努力和支持。也期待此次展览能成为克里斯艺术融入中国文化艺术语境的开端，并能在中国遇到更多的艺术知音。

It's a great honor for Baijiahu International Exhibition Co., Ltd. to become the organizer of Chris's first large-scale solo exhibition in China. This exhibition will display nearly 50 representative works of Chris in different periods, including 6 behavioral art video works. As the exhibition is about to open, I sincerely thank Mr. Feng Shengjun, a famous entrepreneur and collector, and his German business partners for their efforts and support in promoting the exhibition for more than a year. It is also expected that this exhibition will be the beginning of Chris art's integration into the context of Chinese culture and art, and will meet more artistic confidants in China.
