The "Magic Time Cubes Stage" on Central Piazza at Parkview Green FangCaoDi, is already decorated with traditional folk art, paper-cuts. As light passes through the cubes, the surfaces create a myriad of images, reminding visitors of the warmth of home.

The warmest destination during any festive season is home. We long towards home, no matter how far they are. COS is joining hands with Wallpaper magazine and invited three "strangers" from different fields, to share the pieces in life that remind them of home. We miss the get-togethers from the old days, and we also enjoy the comfort life provides at this moment. "Home is where the heart is".

She removed the partition, painted the walls, suspended the ceiling and changed the flooring. The fashion blogger renovated the space according to her needs. Savi 承认对家居不熟悉，但她自信地认为对美的理解是共通的。一次拍照的机会让她发现了中古家居的独特美感，那是她第一次知道“中古家居店”的概念，从此便一发不可收。回到北京后，她几乎逛遍了所有能找到的中古家居店，和老板聊天、了解这些家居设计的根源。现在这个家中，基本每一个东西都是她自己从各个地方淘来的，找不到的，就按照构思自己做。Savi 喜欢待在自己家里的客厅，每天阳光照射进来的时候，是真正在生活的实感。Savi admits that she knew little about interior design, but she was confident in the shared understanding of beauty. A shooting session enlightened her to discover the unique charm in antique furniture. It was her first encounter with the concept of "antique furnishing store", and she was enchanted henceforth. After returning to Beijing, Savi visited almost every antique furniture store she could find, talked with the owners and learned about the origin of those magnificent designs. Items she bought from these visits gradually filled her space. If it's something she couldn't find, she got them custom made. When she showers in the sunlight in her living room, Savi feels a real sense of livelihood.

Just as Savi's affection towards antique furniture, she upholds a value to "not judge a book by its cover". She likes to get to the roots of things, and to her, this is an influence from Beijing. Savi has been questioned many times that as a fashion blogger, why does she work in Beijing? She often finds herself at loss of words, because in her mindset, why not work in Beijing? She couldn't get past the stereotypical view the public had on Beijing, and why people’s understanding of fashion stopped on a superficial level. In her definition of fashion, the core and mindset matter the most. "That's why Beijing is home to many cultural masters." Savi says her work is more like an effort to inherit culture that's wrapped under the fabric of fashion. To her, the concept of "new" needs to stand the test of time. 在北京的归属感让 Savi 无法割舍，“很难形容的一种感觉，可能别的城市比北京空气好，比北京发展好，但就是没法给我北京给我的感觉，无法替代。”这似乎源于 Savi 浓厚的家庭氛围。很小的时候，Savi 的父亲就告诉她，饺子是过年一定要吃的东西，因为在上一辈人的年代，只有过年时才能吃上饺子。这种食物对于他们已经成为了一种代表符号，几乎可以和“家”划上等号，而这也就成了 Savi 人在异乡时的寄托。Savi finds it difficult to leave Beijing because of the sense of belonging. "It is really difficult to put in words. Other cities do have better air quality, and maybe more career opportunities, but they just can't provide me with the feeling that Beijing does. It is irreplaceable." This may originate in the strong sense of family during her childhood. Since a tender age, Savi's father always told her that one must eat dumplings during the New Year, because the older generation could only enjoy a meal of dumplings, which was considered as a big feast, during the New Year. To them, “dumpling” is a symbol of "family", and that longing for family nourishes Savi's soul when she is miles away from home.

Savi 曾在美国生活过几年，最开始她在宾州上学，后来搬去亚特兰大，刚安顿下来，父亲就跑去附近的华人超市去买面和馅，“对于他们来说，如果我们刚刚聚在一起，或者我们分别的时候，都应该吃饺子，这是一个非常固定的一个概念。”现在，Savi 和父母同住一个小区，曾经四、五年都无法一起过年，现在一起遛狗、浇花成了日常。Savi lived in the United States for several years. She studied in Pennsylvania first, then moved to Atlanta later on. She remembers her father rushing to the local Chinese market to buy flour and fillings to make dumplings, as soon as she settled down in the new residence. "To them, whenever we get together, or whenever we are about to part, we must eat dumplings. This is a very fixed concept." Now, Savi and her parents live in the same neighborhood. In the past, they couldn't spend the New Year together for four or five years in a row. But now, walking their dogs or doing gardening together have become a natural and daily part of their lives.

古奇前不久装修了房子，自己操持了装修的整个过程，妻子墨白对于装修比较随意。在他的设计构想里，功能性最全的是客厅。以前自己和墨白还没有宝宝的时候，回到家，会自己在客厅开小影院，冲散一天的疲乏和压力。而有了宝宝之后，客厅里发生的一切开始围着宝宝转，个人的时间空间都被挤占了。但在这个过程里，他坦言自己得到了治愈，那是一种家人满盈的温暖和陪伴，也是这份陪伴让古奇从工作回归家庭。During his recent renovation, Gu Qi oversaw the entire process, while his wife Mo Bai was more carefree. He designed his home to pack the most functions in the living room. Before the baby arrived, Gu Qi and his wife would enjoy a film in their living room to dispel the day's fatigue and stress. After the baby came, everything in the living room is now tailored for the little one, cutting out a large chunk of personal space. 奶奶的小客厅是古奇儿时的记忆图腾。他回忆，以前在老房子里一家人团聚，因为彼此物理距离的接近，连问候都是滚烫热乎的。年三十，七大姑八大姨围在奶奶家的小客厅里，支起一个特别简单的桌子，做一桌子好菜，挨个儿盘一盘自己今年有哪些收获。客厅特别小，但挤满了一屋子人，吵吵嚷嚷的烟火气非常有生活的味道。约在五年前，随着居住环境的变换，屋里的空间大了，反而人聚不起来。“可能因为大房子不聚气吧，如今的年味越来越淡了”说起过年，古奇在言语中透露着一丝怅然。The small living room of Gu Qi's grandmother is the totem of his childhood memories. As he recalls, distance between family members was very short and greetings never lost their temperature, as the entire family gathered up in the old living room of his grandmother. On Chinese New Year's Eve, relatives sat down together, filled the table with mouthwatering dishes, and one by one, they recollected the losses and gains in the past year. The living room would be stuffed with people, and the air with flavors of life. The family moved out of the old building around five years ago. The new apartment may be bigger, but relatives don't gather anymore. "Perhaps a bigger space isn't suited for gatherings. 古奇和墨白已经在北京生活十年了，这十年之间，他也辗转过其他城市。但他最终选择留在了“包容”和“自我”的北京，古奇喜欢北京，因为在穿梭在这个城市里的每个人，都能从他们的眼里看到自己的故事。Gu Qi have lived in Beijing for ten years with Mo Bai. Within a decade, he has tried his hands out in other cities, but chosen to remain in the "inclusive" and "self-centered" city of Beijing. Gu Qi likes Beijing, for he finds a reflection of himself from every passerby.

Cindy 是一个“异乡人”。在台北出生，五岁随父母搬去了上海，中间住过美国、法国，对她来说很难定义哪里是家。居住比较久的上海长宁区，是 Cindy 喜欢的地方之一，因为家距离最热闹的市区有一段距离，不同于市中心的人声鼎沸，长宁区显得更加安静，相对开阔的空间，让每个人都放慢速度，和生活的纹理亲密接触。穿梭在上海的弄堂间，歪歪斜斜的街巷成了 Cindy 闹中取静的绝佳胜地。Cindy is not a native Beijinger. She was born in Taipei and moved to Shanghai at the age of five with her parents. She spent parts of her childhood in the United States and France. For her, it is difficult to pinpoint where her "hometown" is. Changning district of Shanghai, where she resided for the longest time in her life, is one of her favorite spots. The distance between her apartment and the city center gives Changning district a sense of serenity, in opposition to the hustle and bustle of the urban life. In a spacious space, everyone slows down and comes in closer contact with the veins of life. The alleyways and lanes that crisscross metropolis Shanghai provide an ideal space for Cindy to discover her inner peace.

因为小时候开始就更换了很多住所，对于去到一个新的环境，Cindy 总是能很快找到自己最舒适的生活方式。2012年 Cindy 为了追逐自己的法式甜点梦而搬去了巴黎，在此之前，她从未去过法国，但面对一个全然陌生的城市她并没有焦虑，反而直觉自己会喜欢这个地方。她当时住在巴黎左岸六区一个老旧而温馨的公寓里，平日做的甜点，她会时不时地送给住在隔壁的邻居以及楼下卖葡萄酒的店家，用自己的方式和当地人打成一片，在巴黎找到了归属感。Cindy is very good at adapting to a new environment. In 2012, she followed her dreams and moved to Paris to learn French pastries. Upon arrived in France, she was not put off at all. Instead, she fell in love with the city instinctively. She resided in an old but cozy apartment in the left bank of Paris, and often offered her sweets to her neighbors and the wine shop keeper downstairs. She mingled with the locals and found a sense of belonging there.Cindy 回忆那时见到很多日本厨师和甜点师傅在巴黎工作，发现很多法国人的料理里也会自然地加入柚子、紫苏、红豆等一些日本传统食材，这让 Cindy 产生了“为什么不能放点中国元素”的想法。在她看看来，美食是全球共通的语言，相比于一种口腹之欲，她更愿称其为一种文化，在她的私人美食公众号上传播。Looking back, Cindy met a lot of Japanese pâtissiers working in Paris, and witnessed many French chefs adding flavors from Japan in their recipes, such as yuzu, shiso leaves or red beans. She asked herself, "why aren't they using Chinese ingredients?" To Cindy, food is a common language of the world. 这次拍摄的机会，让她在室内设计师Jyri Eskola所设计的朋友家中，作出了尝试，比如在烤苹果里不加肉桂粉，而是加乌龙茶粉和核桃碎，也曾把圣多诺黑（法式传统甜点）的内馅改成杏仁茶口味，细碎的“中国味”渗透其中。She worked her magic with pastries in a friend's home designed by interior designer Jyri Eskola. In her version of the apple pie, she replaced cinnamon powder with Oolong tea powder and crushed walnuts. She also substituted the fillings of St. Honore cake (a classic French dessert) with almond tea, allowing the delicate Chinese flavors to permeate through.两年前的春节，Cindy 去了一趟马拉维，位于非洲东南边的一个国家，在当地的一所孤儿学校，她作为义工陪那里的孩子挂灯笼、写春联，还包了红包给他们，只不过，红包里装的并不是钱，而是长得像金币的巧克力。当地的孩子都是第一次见巧克力，他们脸上所表现的惊喜和开心令 Cindy 难以忘记，她感叹这是最有意义的一个春节。Cindy visited Malawi, a country in Southeast Africa, as a volunteer to an orphanage school two years ago during the Spring Festival. She put up red lanterns, wrote Spring Festival couplets, and gave out red envelopes to the local children. Instead of placing money in the red envelopes as a blessing, she packed chocolates shaped like a golden coin. The local kids had never seen chocolate, and the joy and surprise on their faces left an unforgettable imprint in Cindy's mind. She said it was one of the most meaningful Spring Festivals she had ever spent.Cindy 似乎习惯并热爱这样一种生活模式，在团圆的节日里，他人能够因为她而多一份甜蜜和喜悦。就像回到国内后， 她也曾在上海半岛酒店的西点房里陪伴了很多人来人往的春节。Cindy loves to bring sweetness and joy to others in the festive seasons. After she returned to China, her creations from the pastry kitchen of the Peninsula Hotel Shanghai accompanied many Spring Festivals of visitors to the city.太多人漂泊了太多地方，能够被我们称之为“家”的地方不一定再是那个出生的城市，不一定再是从小长大的老房子，但总有一些地方，每隔一段时间就想回去看看，那里存放着自己的初心，和无法替代的安全感。
We wander around the world, and where we call "home" may not be that city we were born in or the house we grew up in. But there are always places we crave to return to, because it is where our original aspirations were born, and where our sense of security is safely kept.
我们对于“家”的记忆与理解有着太多太多，新年家味，Savi、古奇和墨白、Cindy 给出了不同的答案。无论是对新家的告白、回味老家的物件，甚至是味蕾上的回忆，都诉说着对新年、对生活的热烈期许。
Our memories and grasp of "home" is multifaceted. For the New Year and the taste of home, Savi, Gu Qi and Mo Bai, as well as Cindy, have all handed in their versions of answers.
