开平为五代十国时期梁太祖朱温年号（公元907～911），存世钱币有“开平通宝”，“开平元宝”各一枚，皆系孤品。由于其质量合理，通货控制得当，钱币做工比较精美，故深受百姓喜爱。钱币正面铸有楷书“开元平宝”四字，從上而下從右而左直读。钱币造型圆润端庄，字迹清晰深俊，包浆浑厚温润，是难得一见之收藏佳品!

而“开平元宝"之真伪还待考证。实属罕见的古钱币类型，由于缺乏服人之理据，致使对“开平元宝”恒久的争议不休，终无确切定论。既然能认定“开平通宝”，那么认定“开平元宝”也非为难事。虽然史书没有纪录开平年间铸造过钱币，那么我们就只能从破碎的历史残片中来拼集推测了。今天流于世上的开平通宝钱仅有大钱一种。它的形体仿照开元钱，但铸造制作上更粗糙，边廓不整齐。"开平通宝"四个字，以隶书书写，从上往右旋读。其钱径约3.4厘米，重量不能测定。这种铸造的钱世上流传极少，世上流传的小平的"开平通宝"为"开元通宝"挖补以后改刻所成。现二品均在国家博物馆收藏展出。其因也存世稀少，位列中国古泉"五十名珍"。作为唯一存世量较少的珍品古钱币，开平通宝的市场价格是非常高的。据了解，目前能见到的开平通宝极少，每一枚都在百万元左右，品相好的更是数百万价值，因此，能收藏一枚开平通宝也是极有实力的。此枚崇宁通宝样币现存世量不多，具有很高的收藏和投资价值，上面的包浆也见证了其历史年代的沉积，不难看出它明显的历史过渡性特征，该铜币虽然历经沧桑，但纹路依然隐约可见，有着难以言表的收藏投资价值。 经过这几年的钱币市场酝酿，以机制币为主的钱币交易市场正在悄然升温。特别是沿海城市及内地市场掀起一场铜币投资热。铜币是钱币收藏的很大一类，不同版别的铜币都有其独特的韵味，值得投资者们细细品味。在古币的市场交易中，这类崇宁重宝币更是备受青睐。

世人评此为“宋代第一泉”，与新莽并称中国钱发“二圣”公元1100年1月，北宋皇帝哲宗病故，由其弟赵佶接替做了北宋第八任皇帝，为宋徽宗。徽宗“性甚机巧，优于技艺”，终日沉迷于书法绘画，不理朝纲。他在位25年，先后铸造了圣宋通宝、崇宁通宝(重宝)、大观通宝、政和通宝(重宝)、重和通宝、宣和通宝(元宝)等6种钱币，其中崇宁通宝和大观通宝的钱文是徽宗亲书的瘦金体。令人叫绝的是折十型瘦金书体的崇宁通宝，青铜精制，文字骨秀格清，惹得众多古钱币收藏者爱不忍释。
