光绪元宝是清朝光绪年间流通的货币之一。由湖北两广总督张之洞率先引进英国铸币机器铸造银元和铜元，之后各省纷纷仿效。共有十九个省局铸造，除中央户部，地方省所铸铜元，皆在其正面上缘镌写省名。光绪元宝是大清光绪年流通大面值货币之首，是我国首批引进海外技术的印发流通货币，对于现今也蕴藏了一定历史意义。光绪元宝中，价值最高的就是广东省造的双龙寿字币。

Yuanbao of Guangxu is one of the currency circulating in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. Zhang Zhidong, governor of Hubei Province and Guangdong Province, took the lead in introducing the British coinage machine to cast silver and copper coins, and then the provinces followed suit. A total of 19 provinces and bureaus cast copper coins. In addition to the central household and local provinces, the names of provinces are engraved on the upper edge of the front. Guangxu Yuanbao is the first currency with large face value circulating in Guangxu, Qing Dynasty. It is the first batch of currency to be issued and circulated by introducing overseas technology in China. It also has certain historical significance for today. Among the Guangxu Yuanbao, the highest value is the double dragon longevity coin made in Guangdong Province.

清代银币、纸钞、铜币并行，至嘉庆年间发行新式银元，而光绪年间铸行金、银币更多。洋务运动也影响到铸币业，两广总督张之洞曾于光绪十三年(1887年)委托使英大臣在英国订购全套造币机器，并在广东钱局首铸机制银元和铜元。其后，各省纷纷仿效，购制国外机械铸造银、铜元。包括广东钱局在内，许多造币机均订购自著名的英国伦敦伯明翰造币有限公司。英国大工业的介入，使银币也沾染上西方色彩。钱币正面鲜然可见满汉文化的融合，而钱背却明确标示了西方文化的介入。

In the Qing Dynasty, silver, paper and copper coins were in parallel, and new silver coins were issued between Jiaqing and Guangxu. The westernization movement also affected the coinage industry. Zhang Zhidong, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi, commissioned the British minister to order a complete set of coinage machines in Britain in 1887, and made the first silver and copper coins in Guangdong money Bureau. Later, the provinces followed suit, purchasing and manufacturing foreign mechanical casting silver and copper dollars. Many mints, including the Guangdong money Bureau, were ordered from the famous Birmingham minting company in London. The intervention of British big industry made silver coins also tainted with western color. The integration of Manchu and Han culture is rarely seen on the front of coins, while the back of coins clearly indicates the involvement of western culture.

该银币正面珠圈外上端镌刻“广东省造”四字，下端镌刻楷书“库平七钱二分”六字，左右两侧各镌有一蝙蝠图案，珠圈内铸有“光绪元宝”四字。银币背面珠圈外铸双龙戏珠图案，珠圈内铸一圆形“寿”字。银币设计极富特色，正面两侧所铸的一对蝙蝠图案寓意吉祥。因蝙蝠的“蝠”字与“福”字谐音，在币面上铸蝙蝠图案意在取“蝠”、“福”两字谐音，与背面的“寿”字相对应，寓意“福寿双全”。广东“寿”字双龙银币制造精致，楷书文字书法极为端庄大气，间架结构平衡舒展，在龙洋里首屈一指，是家喻户晓的银币珍品，收藏价值和升值空间都值得期待。

The silver coin has four characters of "made in Guangdong Province" on the outside of the bead circle on the front, six characters of "Kuping seven coins and two cents" on the bottom, a bat pattern on the left and right sides, and four characters of "Guangxu Yuanbao" in the bead circle. On the back of the silver coin, there is a pattern of double dragons playing with beads outside the bead circle and a circle of "longevity" inside the bead circle. The silver coin design is very distinctive, and a pair of bat patterns on both sides of the front symbolize auspiciousness. Because bat is homophonic with Fu, the bat pattern on the coin is intended to take bat and Fu as homophonic characters, corresponding to longevity on the back, implying both happiness and longevity. Guangdong double dragon silver coins with the character of "Shou" are exquisitely made. Regular script characters and calligraphy are extremely dignified and atmospheric. The structure of the shelves is balanced and stretched. It is the best in longyangli. It is a well-known treasure of silver coins. Its collection value and appreciation space are worth looking forward to.
