One thing I’m proud of when I was young is drawing the characters from the series A Dream in Red Mansions and Journey to the West so vividly that I was admired by fellow classmates and neighborhoods. I desired a life accompanied by canvas and brush, so after few years’ formal training I left home with friends to participate in the college entrance examination. After graduation, like most of the other contemporary I was married and gave birth a baby in Shenzhen. When my life became a little bit aimless, I heard the news that Italian professor Trotti would come and set courses in Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. And I just can’t help fell in love with painting again. I started my preparation for the postgraduate admission examination and I even can’t believe myself when I knew my pass with a high mark.
Three years’ study soon turn its end, and I was face the question whether I should take painting seriously or just for fun. I was confused, distressed and hesitated for a long time, but my passion inspires me to strive and persist for the sake of art.
The major theme of my works is women. As a female artist, I always tend to stand on the side of women to explore the evolvement of women’s identity in Chinese long history. Some of my paintings can serve as a explanation. Compared with the time, our life span is so short that like a blink of eye. So there is no reason we are too worried about the pressure and negative news. We shall all embrace a healthy and colorful life. And my works should lead my audience to explore all these joys and happiness around us.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank my family, my teachers and my friend, for their dedication and personal support to help me hold this one-person exhibition, publish my albums and most importantly, remain committed to painting.
