Open Books：A New Dialogue（《开放的书页：新的对话》）国际艺术巡回展将于2017年11月15日至2018年1月31日在美国康州学院查尔斯·E·辛恩图书馆（Charles E. Shain Library, Connecticut College）举办。展览于2017年11月15日开幕，同时举办研讨会。

本次国际艺术巡回展推出来自中国、美国、澳大利亚、加拿大、英国和印度的四十七位艺术家的作品，他们的作品或是受到了传统中国册页样式的启迪，或者是对这种独特艺术形式的回应。展览旨在探索来自多样文化传统和不同艺术背景的艺术家们，如何把这种独特的艺术样式作为他们自我表达的一种方式，更为重要的是，他们如何在全球化时代把它作为跨文化对话与合作的一种手段。参展的艺术家中包括徐冰、丁乙、叶永青、王冬龄、张羽、刘大鸿、王天德、王劲松、张浩、管怀宾、沈忱、Mimi Smith、Nicci Haynes、Adele Outteridge、Mary Husted、Sue Hunt、Meena Baya、Thomas Martin、Dianne Fogwell、Frank Vigneron等。

本次展览的主办者是康州学院朱-格里菲斯亚洲艺术收藏部和三尚当代艺术馆，由中国国家艺术基金特别赞助。策展人是纽约市立大学艺术史助理教授钱志坚博士和康州学院东亚系副教授兼朱-格里菲斯亚洲艺术收藏部执行主任麦芒（黄亦兵）博士。

Open Books：A New Dialogue（《开放的书页：新的对话》）展览的作品精选自英国威尔士艺术家玛丽·赫司提德（Mary Husted）于2012年发起的Open Books项目。该项目中的作品此前巡展于英国、中国香港、中国、澳大利亚、加拿大和印度。本次展览是这个项目在美国的首次展示。

本次展览的开幕时间为2017年11月15日（周三）下午4：00至6：30。研讨会以 “Literati Albums + Artists’ Books”（“册页与艺书”）为主题，时间为当日下午4：30-6：00。

A new exhibition “Open Books: A New Dialogue” will open on November 15, 2017 in the Charles Chu Asian Art Reading Room at the Charles E. Shain Library, Connecticut College.

This international exhibition features artists from China, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India whose works are inspired by or responding to the traditional Chinese art format of the folding album. It investigates how artists from diverse cultural traditions and artistic backgrounds creatively utilize the unique format not only as a way of self-expression, but, more importantly, as a method of cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration in the era of globalization. Among the 46 artists selected for the exhibition, 20 are non-Chinese and 27 are from China, including internationally renowned artists such as Xu Bing, Ding Yi, Ye Yongqing and Wang Dongling,Zhang Yu,Liu Dahong,Wang Tiande,Wang Jisong,Zhang Hao,Guan Huaibin,Shen Chen,Mimi Smith、Nicci Haynes、Adele Outteridge、Mary Husted、Sue Hunt、Meena Baya、Thomas Martin、Dianne Fogwell、Frank Vigneron.

This exhibition is organized by the Chu-Griffis Asian Art Collection at Connecticut College in collaboration with the Sanshang Contemporary Art Museum in Hangzhou, China, with special sponsorship from the China National Arts Fund. It is co-curated by Dr. Zhijian Qian, Assistant Professor of Art History from City University of New York and Dr. Yibing Huang, Acting Curator of the Chu-Griffis Asian Art Collection and Associate Professor of Chinese at Connecticut College.

“Open Books: A New Dialogue” is adapted from the Open Books project, which was initiated by Welsh artist Mary Husted in 2012 and was exhibited in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia, Canada, and India between 2012 and 2017. The current show will be its first exhibition in the United States.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, November 15 from 4 to 6:30pm with a panel discussion held from 4:30 to 6pm.
