Qixiang Aixinjueluo is one of the most highly regarded Chinese calligraphers in China today. Qixiang was born in 1935 in Beijing, China. He can trace his lineage directly back nine generations to Emperor Yong Zhen(1678-1735) of the Qing Dynasty of China. In China, emperors and their families have often been artists and poets, and Qixiang’s ancestry is similarly steeped in traditional Chinese art. Today, the Aixinjueluo family is a household name in China among those interested in classical art, and it is synonymous with the great artists of today and of the past.

　　Qixiang’s grandfather, Yudi Aixinjueluo, was a great calligrapher of the 19th century, and he passed on his wisdom and passion to Qixiang, his first grandson. Under Yudi’s influence, Qixiang started studying calligraphic technique, art, and history at the age of four. After years of practice, Qixiang continued his family tutelage with an apprenticeship under elder cousin Qigong Aixinjueluo, the venerable former chairman of the Chinese Brush Calligraphy Association. Qixiang has continued the unceasing practice of technique and study of literature necessary for calligraphic art. Over the last twenty years, Qixiang has come into his own as an artist. His calligraphy combines the most rigorous traditional techniques, the stylistic virtues of many famous calligraphers, and his own unmistakable elegance. He is now recognized as one of the foremost and most talented calligraphers actively painting in China.

　　The calligraphic art of Qixiang is in the permanent collections of some of the most prestigious Chinese museums and displayed at some of the most significant architectural structures in China. These include the Summer Palace Museum in Beijing, the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, the Chinese National Museum, and Tiananmen Hall. A fine brush calligraphy Chinese version of the Fundamental Principles of Olympic written by Qixiang is part of the permanent collection of the Olympic Museum. It was presented as a

　　gift to the museum in 1991 by the Chinese Olympic Application Committee. Additionally, Qixiang and 40 other Aixinjueluo family artists donated their artwork to the Chinese government to promote the 1990 Asian Games held in Beijing. These works toured in Japan, and Qixiang represented the Aixinjueluo family during this formal visit to Japan. In 2007, China Education TV invited Qixiang to teach traditional Chinese calligraphy on TV. The program was well received and won many excellent reviews from both experts and students of the art.

　　Over the years, Qixiang has held many solo exhibitions of his artwork both in China and in neigbouring countries. These exhibitions have garnered a tremendous number of visitors. As his reputation has soared, so has the demand for his art. His artworks are sought for and collected throughout the East, in places such as China, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

　　In 1998, Qixiang published his first collection book. The entire print run was sold out. Since then, Qixiang has continued to strive for perfection in his art. He has since published the Diamond Sutra in Kai style and other classic Chinese works in Kai, Xing, and Cao styles.

　　The master calligrapher is a member of the Chinese Brush Calligrapher Association, the most authoritative national organization devoted to Chinese calligraphy. He is a member of the Beijing Research Institute of Culture and History, one of the foremost Chinese art and culture organizations. He is also a goodwill ambassador for the Beijing Friendship Association with Foreign Countries, an origination dedicated to promoting the exchange of culture, sports, technology, etc. between Beijing and other countries.

　　Mrs. Weixin Li, Qixiang’s wife, was born in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province in 1947. She is a multi-talented artist. In addition to Chinese brush calligraphy, she also practices Chinese brush painting and Chinese seal carving. She has studied with Qixiang, Shuoshi Chen, and Qifeng Sun, all renowned artists. Her art is widely recognized and collected in China.
