On November 18th, 2020 was launched online Andreea Foanene's mini solo show, organized by the T-ACT platform and curated by Maria Orosan-Telea. 

• Andreea Foanene is an Artist and Curator living in Timișoara, Romania. She is active in both the public and private cultural sectors, as a Museum Curator at the Timișoara's Art Museum, and always involved in new, fresh and innovative projects along with local, national, and international NGOs, Museums, and Foundations. The experience that she has in the field of cultural heritage helps her to research, organize, create, implement, develop, and coordinate significant projects.

Finding herself at a crucial moment in her own existence, when interruption of breastfeeding shapes the relationship both with the child and with herself, Athe (AndreeaFoanene) makes a series of drawings placed at the intersection between psychological self-analysis, probing the mother-artist condition and questioning the motherhood archetype.

The physiological reaction of the female body, engaged for months in the process of breastfeeding, and faced with its interruption can be violent. For Athe, the emotional state activates an acute need for notation through drawing. The breast, the hand, the drop of milk are recurring visual elements of these genuine interventions on paper and compose a narrative like a diary.

Through the proposed theme, the artist discusses the paradox of vulnerability as an inexhaustible source of inner resurrection.  Femininity, with its most specific, seemingly fragile attributes, is the life-giving force. References to Paleolithic statuary thus become eloquent for a discourse that goes beyond punctual, self-referential aspects.

Overlapping with the pandemic period, this stage of the mother-child relationship has its clearly defined spatial coordinates. The house, the yard, the garden, with their specific elements are either discreetly inserted in the drawing or are integrated through photography. Thus, drawing sometimes becomes a pretext for building performative scenarios that significantly change the classic status of the medium of artistic expression. 

The images of weaning, an intimate and dramatic reality, are confronted with the external reality in which the rhythm of life is, on the one hand, fragmented by lactation, and on the other, punctuated by the transformations of nature in late summer.
