如果说元代纯红釉瓷器还处在创烧阶段,那么明代红釉瓷器就已经完全成熟了。特别是永宣年间景德镇御窑厂烧造成功的鲜红釉,色调纯正,釉厚如脂,光莹鲜艳,如初凝的鸡血,堪称绝代佳作。《景德镇陶录》称“宣德鲜红最贵”,这句话绝非过誉之词。永乐红釉瓷器的品种,主要有盘、碗、僧帽壶、小犁壶、高足碗等。宣德时期的红釉瓷器比永乐时期的更胜一筹,它虽没有永乐时期的红釉鲜明温润,但红中稍带黯黑,但红而不鲜,更显得静穆和凝重。又由于釉色中闪耀出如红宝石一样的光泽,耀眼夺目,所以又称为“宝石红”,《景德镇陶录》中因此有“宣窑”以“鲜红为宝”之说。宣德时期红釉瓷器的品种较之永乐时期大大增加,常见的器型有僧帽壶、莲瓣壶、大小高足碗、莲瓣洗、葵口洗、碗、盘等。

The shape of the bowl is stocky and elegant, proportionate, beautiful and dignified. It shows the rigorous and powerful style of official kiln pottery, with the six-character regular script style of "Daming Xuande Year System" in blue and white on the sole of the circle.

宝石红釉,亦称“鲜红釉”、“霁红釉”、“祭红釉”、“积红釉”、“醉红釉”。是明宣德时创烧的着名铜红釉品种。釉色深沉,釉面光润,不甚透明,不流釉,不脱口,不开片。浑然一色的铜红釉瓷器,是在元代景德镇烧制成功的,此时在红釉瓷器上已经不再见到钧窑器物上那种红蓝相间或红中闪紫的色彩,取而代之的是一种纯净的朱红色。1974年江西景德镇市郊凌氏墓出土了两件红釉瓷俑,两俑身着宽袖袍服,头戴官帽,双手执笏拱立,除睑部、手和笏板饰青白釉外,衣履均为红色。虽然瓷俑身上的红色有些红褐不匀,红色也不够鲜艳美丽,但它毕竟是我国制瓷史上首先出现的纯正红釉。从墓志铭上可知,瓷俑的烧造年代至迟应在元代至元四年(1338)以前,它标志着元代景德镇制瓷工艺的进一步成熟。从此红釉瓷器能够自成体系,它与青釉、蓝釉等颜色釉一样成为我国颜色釉瓷中的奇葩。

Their clothes and feet were red except for the blue and white glaze on the eyelids, hands and panels. Although the red on the figurines is somewhat uneven in red and brown, and the red is not bright and beautiful enough, it is the first pure red glaze in the history of China's porcelain making. From the epitaph, it can be seen that the firing age of the terracotta warriors should be no later than the Yuan Dynasty to the fourth year of the Yuan Dynasty (1338), which marks the further maturity of the porcelain-making technology of Jingdezhen in the Yuan Dynasty. From then on, red glazed porcelain can form its own system. It has become a wonderful flower in China's color glazed porcelain as blue glaze, blue glaze and other color glazes.

明代宣德时期的红釉器,之所以超越前代而独树一帜,一方面主要是窑工们在长期实践中找到了釉料配制的正确比例,掌握了烧制红釉瓷的恰当火候,另一方面也与宣德皇帝继续尊崇明太祖朱元璋所制定的“以红色为贵”的旨意有关,红色代表着国色,皇家官用!

由此可见,宣德时期的宝石红釉是最为名贵之釉,从明初到民国,皆有定论。所谓千窑一宝红釉瓷是也。嘉靖后期,红釉瓷烧制工艺失传,原因是原材料断绝。后来直到清初康熙时期,郎廷极督窑,才重新烧制出红釉瓷,号称郎红。因其成品率极低,难得一件正品,故有,“想要穷,烧郎红”之说。

民国赵汝珍著《瓷器述要》云,“釉之最贵者为宝石釉。宝石釉含有红、绿、蓝、紫各色之不同。世俗只以红色为宝石釉,岂知绿、蓝、紫各色亦皆有之。宝石釉之品莫贵于亮釉,其明如镜,其润如玉,其赤如鸡血,其通如石之冻。《博物要览》所谓鲜红宝石者是也。亮釉,又名玻璃釉,乃薄釉也。宝石釉,亦有釉厚者,比之薄釉,其价值则稍逊。
